I'm not going to bet anyone that she headlines. I was just throwing her name out there because she's extremely popular right now and everyone seems to like her.
Would people say I was crazy if I suggested she headline Pitchfork next year?

I wouldn't doubt for a second that they've booked one of their major headliners already. I would actually be surprised if they haven't yet. XRT posted an interview with the three C's and they said that they work to book 12-18 months out for the top acts. They said they get calls from acts after the fest for next year and that is already too late. When Marty mentioned that an act's popularity could greatly increase in the time between booking and the fest one even joked about an artist's popularity peaking and already declining between booking and the fest. So yeah. They already have a pretty good idea what will be playing next year.

Also, it's a good thing if several have their popularity grow significantly over the year as one or more headliners will likely bail over that time. You then can bump said artist/band into a headlining slot. (See: Sam Smith)

Is there any evidence that Vampire Weekend and Black Keys will even have new material or be touring in 2018?

Is there any evidence that Vampire Weekend and Black Keys will even have new material or be touring in 2018? Ezra has posted pics and at least one update stating they are working on a new album.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are expecting VW in 2017 which I think is extremely unlikely. But I'd be shocked if it wasn't out by next summer.
Black Keys is total blind speculation I think.

Baio just released another album and is touring in the fall No idea how much that will affect the recording of a new VW album tho

I thought they said they were already recording the new one back when Rostam left the band, but that he still co-wrote some of the new stuff

Ezra's last update made it sound like the process was taking longer than expected. I don't expect anything new from VW until next year either.

You've never heard of unexpected LP drops? Why would they drop an album when Baio is out on tour for his record ?

Well he is dating Rashida Jones now so I can see why it's taking longer.

Most of you made my point, the other members besides Ezra are doing solo stuff and seem completely disengaged from the album process. Ezra completing the albumon his own seems like something that still will take years. On their last album the only thing he recorded were vocals. Though he plays guitar live he didn't record a single guitar part for MVOTC.

Yeah, I definitely have hope as long as Rostam is involved.
I'm in no rush for them to return with how many big time indie rock acts are releasing and tours right now.

Doesn't the Killers bass guy have the same deal? Shows up in the studio but doesn't tour with them? Great work if you can get it.

Yeah the touring bassist looks kind of like Bray Wyatt so I could see why they'd want to make sure they are maintaining the image for their brand.
