Personally, I hope CG is right about all of it. IMO, he will be MOSTLY right. Not going to take the bet but it will be close (I hope).

I'm going with Florence, Arctic Monkeys, The National and Vampire Weekend as the most likely four.

4 of that list is tough.
AM and VW are so Lolla-y and feel likely.
If YYYs are promoting a new album you'd think they'd be in. But you'd also think that would have been the case last cycle.
If they didn't book Gorillaz last year when it was fresh/timely I don't think they'd take a bite from the apple a year late.

I think AM, VW, and Flo are all possible for the Lolla demo.
I think it will be hard to get four off CG's list because if Lolla does book 4 alt/indie acts, there's a strong chance it will include something along the lines of Mumford, Lumineers, 21 Pilots etc.

YYYs will headline Pitchfork instead of getting the demotion at Lolla.

YYYs will headline Pitchfork instead of getting the demotion at Lolla. Agreed. Unless they play Riot Fest performing Fever to Tell in its entirety, which would be cool.

YYYs will headline Pitchfork instead of getting the demotion at Lolla. With 8 spots I think they could still headline, but they are less likely than the other acts I listed.

Yeah I almost made that comment about the extra two spots. I still feel like it's a stretch and The National or VW (finally getting the bump up from subheadliner) would make way more sense in one of those fringe headliner spots.

The National hasn't played a remotely major/mainstream festival since 2013 though. Maybe it just makes more sense for them to do 3-4 nights in cities like Chicago, LA, New York, Austin.

I think that's more because they hasn't released a new album until last fall and they did Panorama in NYC in 2016.

This kind of feels like Weekend/AM/VW/Odesza/Kygo/Travis up top.
So maybe add on a rock act and like G-Eazy/Halsey and call it a day.

I'd be fine with the Black Keys if they're fine with pretending the last 2 1/2 albums don't exist

If there was any indication TBK were getting ready to end their hiatus I would say they would be lock for Lolla, but it doesn't look like it will happen before 2019.

You guys, wretched meant that the black keys headlined one year after playing a Chicago show in the late spring. He was not suggesting they play in 2018.

I didn't realize Kygo was playing the UC in May - that does make him less likely.
I've been out of the game a bit this winter - is Pearl Jam doing Wrigley again? I feel like they're overdue and with HOV doing ACL you'd think he is over-over due.

Alady mentioned a PJ Wrigley rumor. Jay Z def makes sense for Lolla.

Kygo is too busy changing the game with his "the entire upper level at the United Center is general admission" ticket strategy

This is true, but the UC is a big venue for him so getting announced for Lolla two months before his show seems like it would hurt ticket sales for the UC show.

Also a reminder that if it's a year that ends in a number there's probably a good chance RHCP are playing
