Correct. I could absolutely see 1975 headlining the north one night. Also, 2016 only had RHCP unless you consider Radiohead and LCD rock n' fuckin' roll. Moving the fest to four days seriously changed everything. It's the final nail in the coffin in hoping they'd continue to try and appeal to anyone older than 28. Sure they're not NIN or Sabbath, but 7 of the last 16 headliners have been rock groups. Radiohead LCD AF RHCP Muse Killers Blink The XX (not counting them as a "rock" headliner) All of those band appeal to the 28 and older crowd easily I specifically said 2016 as an example of them not booking anything resembling traditional rock. If Radiohead is rock, so is The National which would put 2016's rock headliner total to 2 versus my prediction in 2018 of 1 unless you seriously want to debate the merits of LCD being rock n roll. Also, I think we long ago determined that Lolla doesn't check boxes every time they decide upon headliners. Frankly, the only thing I'm sure of regarding what will be their 2018 lineup is that it will be very appealing to the 16-24 demo, very watered down after the first few lines and lacking many bands appealing to those over 30.

I'm not saying they check any boxes. I'm saying they booked almost half of the headliners the past two years being rock groups of some sort.
And they all appeal to people your age, you just don't like any of them.

I'd be surprised if chainsmokers were top line and Arctic Monkeys weren't but I'm very ok with this lineup/scheduling, provided something good is on the grove Sunday night

That's all very likely but my thing is that I don't think either Florence or AM would take bumps in billing; they're either 3-4 with Chainsmokers at 5, placing them in the same spots they were in previois years, OR they're actually moved up in some way.

i'd be good with that set of headliners and the scheduling.

If that was to happen, I can guarantee 100% that it would be Pearl Jam against the National, since they would schedule the only 2 headliners I care about against each other.

If PJ, The National and Hova were on different days, I'd buy a four day.

IDK Chainsmokers did an arena tour this year and I expect they will be getting some large festival billings next year. Maybe I should have billed Florence before them, but I think they will headline the south field.

That mock is WAY too top heavy. Lolla doesn't have the budget to book PJ and Jay-Z in the same year now that this thing is 4 days. Their previous two #2 headliners are RHCP (who also headlined Rock On The Rage that year so yeah) and The Killers. Remove Jay-Z or Pearl Jam, replace them with Imagine Dragons and voila!

Metallica headlined Rock On The Range this year so they spend some money on headliners. Lolla can afford both PJ and Jay-Z

Yeah say what you will about RHCP, but they are still a huge draw and I'm sure they don't come cheap.

Fine: Beer bet PJ and Jay-Z aren't both on the bill. RHCP are indeed a huge draw but are a common headliner at music festivals whereas Jay-Z and Pearl Jam aren't the fest whores by comparison.

VIP and Platinum tickets on sale now
advertised as "at 2017 prices!" because apparently that's a deal.

Do you actually get a solid 2200 worth of value out of VIP? I mean there are definitely points throughout the Fest where I think I’d pay 150 dollars to use an air conditioned bathroom

Regardless that is a shit ton of money to put up on anything. Like, that's my rent for 3-4 months

Yeah it seems like a lot to spend on something like that. Were I attempt to get my fiancée back to Lolla for more than a half of a day, I think that’d be the only way to convince her.

I would be curious to know how many passes they actually sell since the huge price increase. Almost everyone I talked to in VIP this year had a comped pass.

They gave a lot away through that Jane Says thing. I remember meeting you at Cloud Nothings and seeing your wristband and meaning to ask if it seemed even kind of worth it but it totally slipped my mind.

I went VIP a few times but would never pay for it. The year they brought in the golf carts was clutch though.

Yeah the golf cart rides are nice. The food has been really good the last few years since they brought in Big Star and PQM. Definitely wouldn't pay for it tho.

I bought my own VIP the second year after it settled in Chicago. I paid $8XX for a pair.
Would never even think about doing it again, but the current setup is so different from what I bought that I have no concept of whether it's worth what they charge.

Got in through Jane Says last year and it blew my mind that people paid that kind of money. Too many people talking, you're still standing, but farther away. Sure the food, drink, and bathrooms are nice but there is still a line to get drinks at night and the drinks are confined to the VIP areas. I'll take it again for free but would never pay that money.
