David Lee Roth did an interview and said the original Van Halen lineup, even with Michael Anthony, will be touring next summer

David Lee Roth did an interview and said ... This is the part where it's a little bit suspect for me. But of course if its legit I'm in

It’s true, I kept asking rango about his high school teachers when we were at his old high school and he didn’t remenber any of them.

Should I have listened to a Van Halen album by now?

Just check out the self titled debut through 1984. No chance DLR is signing Hagar or :: giggles :: Cherone songs.

I saw the original on the Diver Down tour. Never had the urge to see any of the later versions.

Never seen Van Halen. I wasn't into the Hagar version and that was what was available to me growing up. I would probably spring for the OG lineup depending on the cost.

Went to the first DLR reunion in 07 and it blew my fuckin' face off even though it was just a pretty good show

I've got every version of Van Halen in the TK except for the original 4 together. I've even seen Michael on backing vox with Sammy's band as well as Chickefoot (who are awesome). I never saw the Cherone version but did see Extreme (who are awesome).
I thought the reunion shows with Diamond Dave were ok. Wolfie is competent but it's not the same without Michael's angelic voice doing the choruses.
All of the VH albums through 1984 are dope and the first two DLR solo albums are better than a lot of the music that is earnestly discussed on this board.
Those are my thoughts thanks for reading

I've only seen the Hagar version of VH, but DLR's needy child aura makes me very uncomfortable. So as much as I'd like to see the original four, I'm not sure I could make it through an entire performance.

original van halen records are still great but every report ever is that DLR isnt even fun to watch anymore (and he never sounded good to begin with) so idk how excited i'd be for that if i had to pay more than $20

Have seen Van Hagar (on the F.U.C.K tour) and the 2012 reunion with Wolfgang on bass. While Michael Anthony was missed and DLR is real hit or miss, seeing Eddie play guitar again was worth it. Dude still has it (or at least did in 2012).

Original lineup at Wrigley would be a dream for me. Wouldn't go to Tinley, though.

Not targeting you specifically because there’s a handful of people who say such things, but I’m always confused on the claim that while some of these are dream bills for people you wouldn’t travel to the burbs or Allstate or wherever for em. I don’t get that

I don’t get that I wouldn't travel to Wrigley for any members of VH except for Michael Anthony, the only one of the group that isn't a schmuck.

One of my favorite year-end traditions: Stereogum's Bands We Lost in 2018 video. Totally forgot about The Thermals / Royal Headache and was completely unaware that Two Inch Astronaut split. RIP again to Ultimate Painting and Diarrhea Planet

I don’t get that Hey, I just noticed this post. My bad for not replying earlier. I am normally fine with going to Allstate if it's really really worth it, but I don't own a car and Tinley is impossible to get to without one. Also, I start work absurdly early and by the rule of math most concerts are on weeknights. There isn't really anything I care about in the music world anymore that would get me to go to figure out how to get to Tinley on a weeknight, have to get back, and go to work the next day. If it were a good venue, maybe. But it sucks. I'm probably just jaded. I used to have no problem going up to Milwaukee for shows and coming back the same night.

I saw the Hagar-fronted Van Halen in 2003. It made me realize that, try as I might, I just don't love Van Halen. It was only worth it to see EVH play guitar. Every person in the band got a multi-minute solo, BORING.
