mike & the mechanics are opening for some european shows for phil collins this month, so this was a pretty good bet to happen. Even though the lead singer is dead? yeah, i think this is the second version of the band.

It's really unfortunate but kind of expected after watching that performance a few weeks ago.

The new songs are bad enough they made me want to leave my life. Glad Janet was aware enough and made the right choice to only leave the band.

Butch Walker posted a video of the members of Marvelous 3 on their way to play a show last year, and said there will be more shows this year. I will be thrilled if that happens in Chicago

A message from Rob Pope:
As Spoon’s bass player since 2006, I’ve never taken for granted the thrills and challenges that have come with being in this band. Now, after some serious thought, the timing feels right for me to leave Spoon in order to spend more time with family and personal projects.
I have nothing but love for Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Eric Harvey, Alex Fischel, and Gerardo Larios — the gentlemen dudes I was lucky to share the stage, bus, and studio with.
I’d also like to shout out the countless people who worked to make my life easier as our road crew and management, many of whom became my lifelong friends. The show can't happen without them.
I’ll continue to work on new music, including touring and recording with The Get Up Kids, but I’ll always be particularly proud of the amazing things Spoon accomplished over nearly 13 years of my involvement (and sometimes in spite of it).
Before I sign off, I have to thank all of you — the fans. It’s been an absolute honor to share this experience with you. If you are lucky enough to see Spoon on the road this summer, buy ‘em a few ice cream sandwiches for me.
For evah yours, Rob Pope (AKA Robert Pop, AKA Sherpa, AKA The Queen of Sheba, AKA The Last Living Member of the Supremes, AKA The Horizontal Striped Hustler)

Paul and Ringo played some songs together from their oldies band in LA last night Joe Walsh was also there for some reason Joe Walsh and Ringo are brother-in-laws. He shows up quite a bit at Ringo shows. Edit - or brothers-in-law.

well this has Psycho 2020 written all over it
Heavy metal legends Mercyful Fate have been on hiatus since 1999, save for when members had a brief, one-off reunion in 2011 at one of Metallica’s 30th anniversary shows, but they’re now finally set to officially reunite for the first time in over 20 years. Frontman King Diamond announced that the Copenhagen band are playing hometown festival Copenhell in 2020 (June 17-20), and he said they’d also “be playing an unspecified number of concerts throughout Europe during the summer of 2020.”
The reunion lineup will feature King Diamond and founding guitarist Hank Shermann with ’90s-era members Bjarne T. Holm (drums) and Mike Wead (guitar), and Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning, Anthrax) will fill in for longtime bassist Timi Hansen. King Diamond continues:
"We asked Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning) to fill in because he has a very unique style and sound playing with his fingers, much like that of Timi Hansen. This is very important, since the set list will only consist of songs from the very first “mini LP”, the “Melissa” album, and the “Don’t Break The Oath” album, plus some brand new songs written specifically in that very same style.
This will very much be Mercyful Fate as we were in the very beginning, except for a brand new major stage production.
See you at the Ruined Bridge.
Stay Heavy…"
No word on US dates
