the last show they're supposed to play is a fest in vegas, sema, I've never heard of. they're only 7th on the bill, behind bush which has only one original member left. When wiz khalifa has better billing than you, it's time to throw in the towel, pale hose.

Luke Jenner of The Rapture made this post today on social media
"The Rapture put out this beautiful record twenty years ago today. People keep asking me if we can play and so on and I haven’t said anything about it publicly because it didn’t feel like the right time. Here’s the deal…
Three years ago we played some shows right before Covid. That was a result of going to years of therapy together, mostly me and Vito. At the time our counselor told me that I should walk away and not try and fix this, because Vito wasn’t willing to work on it with me, but I didn’t listen to her and did it anyway. Also financially at the time I needed the money 💰. So I tried it. We played a bunch of shows but the relationship never healed because we didn’t work on it together. We still haven’t worked on it together.
I let Vito know that I’m happy to play tomorrow if he can call me directly and we can talk. He’s said no over and over again so that just where it’s at. We can play tomorrow if Vito calls and we talk for real. Simple as that. I would love that but I have zero control.
So if you’re a promoter and you’re trying to contact me, that’s what’s up."

I am really glad I got to see The Rapture once. I know Echoes is the big one but I also really dig In the Grace of Your Love. I also agree that airing your therapy stuff in the public forum is a bad and dumb move

Idk how online y'all are, but Sprain have apparently broken up. They blew up among the RYM/Fantano crowd in a big way this year. I hadn't gotten around to listening to them yet, but oh well. So it goes.

I've somehow been way outta the loop on this, but apparently Shabaka Hutchings is retiring from the saxophone after this year. Assuming he'll be moving full-time toward the various wooden flutes I've seen him play a couple times. And also The Comet Is Coming may have played their final show? Not sure if that's a permanent thing or what.

That’s all accurate. He put out an album under the name Kodiak Flexx this year, but I haven’t checked it out yet to see what kind of direction he’s taking.
