Well I'm gonna try for a ticket.
He'll probably announce a farewell tour soon after.

I can't imagine this is the absolute end for Paul, as that Stereogum article implies. No way he doesn't play one last NY show, right? Right? (I ask wishfully because I really wanna see him one last time and doubt a London trip is in my cards...)

leaked images from a photoshoot in Los Angeles yesterday have seemingly confirmed the band’s reunion lineup: Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and Jeff Schroeder, who joined in 2008 as the group’s guitarist. That just leaves out original bassist D’arcy Wretzky, who told Blast Echo last month that “the band has decided to go with a different bass player,” calling the decision “a huge disappointment.” Schroeder, who has been spotted playing bass in the studio, may fill for her live.

as long as he promises to keep it oldschool like Axl did and not forcefeed the crowd his newer shit, i can live with that.
also i like how they're in a hilly area with some trees and such but they're like NAH PICS IN FRONT OF THE PLAIN WHITE STONE WALL PLZ. JUST ADD A WEIRD PLASTIC MONUMENT THAT I CAN PUT MY FEET ON.

This is 100% out of the Axl playbook. James is Slash/Duff and Jeff Schroeder is the Richard Fortus lackey who gets to stay on due to loyalty.
I guess that makes D'Arcy = Steven Adler. Feels bad.

"Tarantula" is an acceptable song to play.

yeah, despite sounding brickwalled to shit, there are some good tracks on that album that i wouldn't mind they play.

I'm telling myself I don't wanna sit through a Pumpkins "reunion" without a female bassist, but who am I kidding, I'm probably gonna see this anyway. Jesus

I'd be willing to bet that they have a female bassist on tour. I think they are going to go the 3 guitar Iron Maiden route because Billy wants to keep his flunky around.

They did shows last year, so I don't know that they were on any official hiatus.
Edit: 2016, but still.

Edit: 2016, but still. they just did some shows in new york too, but yeah they reunited a couple years ago (released a live album last year even). the fact that they're recording and on a new label is pretty wild, though. i posted about it in the 2018 releases of note thread.

The female bassist Billy had on his acoustic-ish tour a few years back (Katie Cole) was very good and also very easy on the eyes. Nice backing vocalist too.

Pitchfork made it sound like a big to-do live, they're a lot like the stones playing exile on main street. they are a can't miss band.
