lolol it sounds like a logical, more pop-sounding direction for them. I think it's really pretty

According to their Facebook page, A Place to Bury Strangers have a "big" announcement to make on "Wednesday." I added the quotes, not them. teaser clip of what i'm presuming to be new music up on their FB page.

Please add Tenkiller by Marie/Lepanto which was released on Friday, January 26. This one completely snuck up and took me by surprise - it's a collaboration between Will Johnson and Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster. I'm enjoying it after my first couple of listens. They are opening a string of shows for Portugal the Man with more dates coming in April and beyond. Thanks for this this is great and had no idea it existed. I also forgot Water Liars existed but they ruled when i saw them at Schubas in i guess 2015 its amazing how quickly bands disappear from the brain

Just realized I mistakenly said they were opening a string of show for Portugal the Man when it's actually Pedro the Lion. As someone who listens to neither of those bands, I feel like it's an easy error to make.

funny enough there's an old death metal band called "BibleBlack" and a black metal band called "Black Tyrant"
no relation.

Super shocked that Billy is getting the "band" back together to record new songs no one wants to hear instead of just going on the road and playing the hits

Well I think this is his vehicle for doing it - because he's killed so many bands for doing the same thing and he doesn't want to be a hypocrite.
But I'm expecting this to go the Death Magnetic route and just be Siamese Dream Part 2, but done by middle aged men.

They will play the hits, but Billy will make you sit through the new stuff and I wouldn't be surprised if they're even playing Oceania and Elegy tracks as well. Billy is determined to prove that he not just a nostalgia act.

You may remember Disappears, they were one of those bands that got some attention after the demise of Sonic Youth b/c Steve Shelley was in the band. Well he left in 2012, and now after another band member departed last year, they've rebranded themselves FACS. They are a more direct post-punk type of band.
Debut album "Negative Houses" is out 3/30, and they are opening for SUUNS on their spring tour.

I've seen them twice now and they're solid. Looking forward to that album.

no Strokes til next year.
Later in the interview, Casablancas touches on the Strokes’ future. Asked about how the Strokes fit into his 2018 plans, he says, “I think that they don’t. We’re always talking, and if anything, that would be 2019.” Their last release was 2016’s Future Present Past EP. It was rumored last year that they were in the studio with Rick Rubin.
also there's a weird blurb in the p4k article about some previous beef with Ryan Adams but idrgaf

DRA doesn't come off well in that Meet Me in the Bathroom book being referenced, but the book itself is such a fantastic read.

“Even the Ryan Adams thing—I just feel like... I’m not aware... I mean, I might’ve been the one who did it. I just feel like I wouldn’t blame him for anything anyone else did. I'm not into throwing people under the bus for any reason or... You know what, man, let people enjoy it. I don't really care, to be honest.”
riveting storyteller, he is.
