I'm pretty sad this week. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be putting Hayley to sleep at the vet on Thursday. I'm so sorry, that is a horrible feeling. |

Over the past year, her rear has started to go and she's become more and more incontinent. This past weekend, she started to not be able to stand on her own. This morning as I was leaving, I was like, "What the hell? She'll like some of this Crumbl cookie" and gave her some.
And, of course, that's when that bitch decided she could stand up for a bit. It would be my dog that stands for Crumbl.

Okay, after Crumbl seemed to make Hayley feel better, I started feeding her more of that and other stuff like canned dog food and baby food. Now this dog, who could barely stand on her own, is getting up on her own, which she couldn't do, and is walking around and barking and sniffing around for more food that she might be overlooking on the floor and wagging her tail. I took off of work today because I thought I was going to be putting her to sleep, but she is way too alive to be put to sleep.
This dog of mine really did just go on literal hunger strike because the dry dog foods I was giving her apparently were not good enough.

So we just got back from the vet, and other than a UTI, the only issue is just that she's old, so her body is starting to give. Neurologically, the vet said she seems to be okay.

a neighborhood jag threw a firecracker at our very sweet and very nervous dog yesterday. i wasn't there when it happened but i marched right over there to confront him, and he threatened to throw one at me too!
"do i look like someone who would throw a firecracker at a dog?"

I said goodbye to Hayley today. The lead up to the veterinary appointment in the past few days was way worse than the actual appointment, but today is still a huge bummer. Thankfully, everyone in the office thought I was doing the right thing, and it was a relief to see her comfortable.
