ugh even as someone who generally likes RLM for their bad movie reviews and discussion of lost horror movie gems, i really really really have no desire to hear their thoughts on anything star wars related ever again.

everything about the the Emperor is a clone of himself theory is actually kinda interesting but also WAY too deep for Star Wars. |

As the father of a young girl I hope they make Rey the most bad-ass Jedi the Star Wars universe has ever seen. As an added benefit it would piss off all the gross SW fans that are scared of woman. After seeing RoS I'd say she qualifies. And while it is loaded with plot holes and events that need a lot more explanation I liked it. I'm sure there will be books and comics and maybe live action shows that fill in a lot of those holes in the future too. |

One other thing that stood out to me was: When Rey heard all the voices of Jedi past she heard Ahsoka but not Ezra. They touched on just about every Jedi from every incarnation of Star Wars so their inclusion/exclusion is interesting. Ashoka is dead (boooo!) and somehow Ezra is still alive and Rey is not the last Jedi. |

Saw this last night and thought it ruled. My gf, her sisters, and I all had a super fun time at the movies and excitedly discussing it afterwards. Her 10-year old sister thought it was “the best one yet!” Do I agree with her? Not really, but I had an awesome time and that’s my #take for this thread.

I rewatched the Last Jedi over the last day or so and it just improves every time. I feel like Rian missed the memo that none of these movies really needed to exist. Lord and Miller probably did too but we'll never know for sure.

Saw the new one today, and it's definitely not good. Weird experience with a sold out crowd not reacting at all to the big reveals scattered throughout the back 1/3 of the movie. Huge complaint for me was how the old characters were used. I initially wasn't a fan of the cast from the original trilogy being cast in Force Awakens, but I thought they were used well in the two previous movies. They felt shoehorned in this one - the use of Carrie Fisher was especially egregious. |

The one badass aspect was the fight on the ruins of the Death Star. Not sure why I'm even spoilering this since it's featured prominently in all advertising..
Also fuck how this movie hid Adam Driver behind a mask for a bulk of the movie. The interplay between him and Ridley was my favorite part about TLJ, but it was mostly fucked up here. |

i guess overall this was fine. i enjoyed it enough. lots of nostalgia bits injected in by JJ. thoughts in spoiler just in case. the spy reveal was kinda lame in nature. that whole portion of the movie was just kind of a groan.
the ben solo fight scene in the end was pretty dope.
would have liked to see ben solo continue his redemption arc training future jedis. or to have died as Kylo.
got me a bit with chewie possibly being dead. glad that was short lived.

Okay, so I was in and out with a food coma for much of the first part of it. I came to when Zorii Bliss enters the picture. It was much better this time.
My nephews, however, were crazy about it. They were gasping and jumping up and down in their seats.
