Father John Misty at Massey Hall in Toronto last night was good. Our seats were awful (side gallery), but he and the band sounded great.
There was a woman in the row ahead of us with a wide hat on, who generally seemed free-spirited, yet in to taking concert videos, and like somebody I would find awful. What's the etiquette on hats as obstructions? I wanted to ask her to abandon the hat but there was a tall dude in front of her so there were several layers of obstruction for us. "Ideal Husband" was on the setlist for the encore closer but we didn't get it.

I don't know what I was expecting from Cigarettes After Sex tonight but what I did get wasn't super impressive. And it shouldn't surprise me. They basically did their albums material with a few extras. A late start. No opener.
I dig the record a lot but their live show leaves much to be desired. Maybe a bit of new band syndrome. Everyone looked bored on stage and with few deviations it was kind of a bleh show. Cheap so I'm not mad or anything just kinda disappointed by how ho-hum they were live.

McCartney last night at Barclays Center. Struggled with hitting the high notes on certain songs ("Maybe I'm Amazed" and "I've Got a Feeling", for example), but overall sounded superb given his age. I'm not a big Beatles fan, particularly the pre-Rubber Soul material, but I loved the Wings songs and the Abbey Road/Let It Be songs. A little surprised that he didn't have strings or at least brass in his touring ensemble. The synth replacing those parts was kind of lame. Impressed with his stamina to put on such a lengthy show, but I think trimming a good 30 minutes of material would be an improvement. The post-Wings songs are weak and the Quarrymen tune is also not good. I'm sure most will disagree, but "Mr. Kite" is one of the worst songs on one of the most all-time overrated rock albums. Definitely a low point for me (why not replace that with "The Long and Winding Road"?)
It was unavoidable to compare this performance to Roger Waters' performance a week ago at the same venue. While the Waters show was not without its filler, I had a deeper overall emotional reaction to the music and the presentation. Waters' use of lasers, for example, made McCartney's lasers look lazy (though Macca gained points for the pyro). Waters never had a great voice, so of course, Sir Paul leads in that category, too.
Generally, I felt that McCartney met my expectations. I was happy to see a Beatle (first time for me) perform in a venue two miles from my front door and I thought he put on a very solid performance that was mostly packed with very good to great songs.

Sgt. Peppers is great but not a fan of that song. Wish he'd go back to doing "A Day in the Life/Give Peace a Chance"

He doesn't play A Day in the Life anymore? Total shite. Prob my favorite Beatles song.
Sgt. Pepper's is a great album tho

He actually performed "A Day in the Life" last night, but it was only the third time on this tour, so I guess it's a rarity now.

Doso, great review but I disagree with "Mr. Kite" but I understand how some might not like it. However, "The Long and Winding Road" is one of the worst Beatles song ever.

I'd rather hear "Long and Winding Road" than most of Sgt. Pepper's. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was thinking that an acceptable substitute from Sgt. Pepper's would be "Getting Better".
"Oh! Darling" is one of my favorites from the entire catalogue, but I suspect that ship has sailed for Sir Paul from a vocal perspective. (It doesn't even appear on setlist.fm).

Ride were, as expected, pretty great tonight. Andy Bells voice was screwed up so Gardener picked up the slack. Shorter set than the Atlanta reunion show, but we got a wicked extended version of Drive Blind, followed by Leave them All Behind and Chelsea Girl! Great way to end it. I have a greater appreciation for All I Want after seeing it live. Much more layered than I expected. Lannoy Point I think is still the best cut from the new album and it's a grand opener. Glad to hang with @wyoming and scoots. Great great show. Finale made the whole trip worth it.

Did he do the thing he did at Chicago Theater where he had people stand for the old songs and sit for the new ones?

I worked late last night and was bone tired but Misty gave me LIFE. "I'm Writing A Novel" as a rave-up with horns was just phenomenal, and "Ideal Husband" is such a cathartic closer. I would've liked to get "Leaving LA" but not sure where it would have fit in that set. Hits on hits.
Shout out the guy next to me who literally smelled like his mother's basement and also the twitchy guy in the green t-shirt who kept trying to rush the stage and kept getting kicked back. He was a little scary tbh.

Jealous y'all got 'Ladies Man' and 'Ideal Husband.'
I'm fighting some sort of cold thing so there was no way I was coming out, but glad it was worth your while.

Arcade Fire put on a great show last night but man, there was hardly anyone there. I'd guess the place was at maybe 25-30% capacity. It was at an arena which is on the outside of Atlanta, so I'm wondering if that distance played into attendance numbers. Think this will be the last arena tour from them unless they pull out all stops on the next record. Win was definitely aware of the low turnout.
Looking at past setlists, I'm slightly disappointed we got "Keep the Car Running" over "Haiti" but the fact they scrubbed "Power Out" from their show is a bummer. I see it was played at all the other tour stops, not sure why they left that one out.

Also saw Foghat a couple weeks ago, which I know has been a running joke around here for a while. They exceeded every expectation I had. Sounded great!

War on Drugs were... fine. I mean the show had its moments, mostly in the forms of Arms Like Boulders and songs off of Lost in the Dream. New songs are fine, but man, they really need some Baby Missiles and etc. woven in there to break up the monotony of only slightly different sounding long jams. Two hours of that gets tiring fast. Unless you absolutely love the new album for some reason or are in the mood for that then there's no reason to go out of your way for them on this tour imho. Probably not gonna see them again until they decide to reincorporate the good songs.
tl;dr: War on Drugs can suck my cock for not playing any Slave Ambient tracks. (fine show, though)

Ted Leo was v good tonight and the crowd was v friendly but sparse and the sound issues + late start meant only a 30 minute set but the Thalia show in november is going to be killer
