I'm concerned we're staring down another strike. I don't blame players for trying to get as much money back as they can after having to deal with playing time restrictions in order to keep them under team control for the maximum amount of time. It's crazy that a guy like Pujols is getting as much money as he is right now, but he's rightfully trying to recoup the value he lost out on during his prime years. The system needs to be reversed.

The only thing Boras ruined was players staying on one team for their whole career. Basically all his players test the market and that's why he/they get top dollar. I don't hate or blame him or the players for it but it is sad to see the player-team ties leave the game.

I mean that's also on owners for being more interested in a compensation pick than signing their player for fair market value.

ESPN really wants the White Sox to sign Mike Moustakas.

Are MLB.tv blackouts dependent on where you're streaming from or where you live?

I've heard a lot of folks use VPNs to get around the blackouts, which makes me think it's ip based.

Apparently the players are contemplating a spring training boycott.

Apparently the players are contemplating a spring training boycott. Which would be a violation of the CBA. Good luck with that.

The union still has the right to strike but only when the CBA has expired. If they believe the owners have violated the current CBA, their recourse is the courts (or the NLRB) for breach of contract or unfair labor practices.

Thank you for pointing it out. However, it still leaves the union stuck if an issue not addressed by the CBA arises. They have no recourse except to just wait it out.

Welcome to contracts, the full-time employment program for lawyers. I believe in labor-union relations, if the contract doesn't cover the issue it comes down to whether the issue is a condition of employment. So even if the CBA didn't cover something, the union may still have recourse with the NLRB. That's my vague recollection from law school though. Take it with a large grain of salt.

I appreciate the insight, I will freely admit my almost complete and total ignorance in this regard. My neophyte thought was that striking is the most powerful (admittedly, last ditch, and sometimes pyrrhic) move a union tends to have at its disposal, so to remove that option incredibly limits their strength.

I have MLB.tv from T-mobile and you can watch your home games if you are not in your market. e.g. I can watch a Royals home game from the Dallas market when I visit my son in Bossier City, LA. But I can't watch the Rangers there. So I think it is based on your location.

The big sports news of the day is that Bartolo is coming back for another run. The Rangers say minor league deal now.... but you know Big Bart is going to bring the heat

For all the praise Hahn has gotten on the returns for Sale/Eaton/Quintana I feel like he doesn't get enough shit for that Shields trade.

It's one of those trades that made no sense at the time and just continues to get worse. Team started off 19-8, then went 10-19, and made a win-now trade even though it was clear this team would have to be blown up soon.
It's the Gerald Wallace/Damian Lillard trade.

That list is down on Kopech. Also weird seeing Burdi pop up in a top 100 over Cease.

I'm really excited to see what Alec Hansen, Dane Dunning, and Dylan Cease do this year. It's crazy that they are super exciting prospects in their own right but they're still behind guys like Rodon/Giolito/Reynaldo Lopez/Kopech.
What a time to be a Sox fan
