Montreal is probably the most likely to get a team at this point, so I don't think you have to worry about that. Vegas is in the running, too.

MLB just reached an agreement with MGM, so Vegas makes sense. No way it'd be an outdoor ballpark.

Colome is probably the set-up guy for the Sox. Good 8th inning guy. Narvaez can't call a game or block or throw out runners, but he can hit. I don't see how he lasts at catcher. Sox think Seby Zavala is ready or they're going after Yasmani Grandal.

Yeah it's a good move. I think Narvaez had some of the worst catcher metrics in all of baseball.

I still sincerely hope he never wears a Cubs uniform again. Theo's statement is strong, until they do something that completely undercuts it in 8 months.

Cleveland just traded our starting catcher, Yan Gomes, to the Nats for an outfield prospect and a fringe bullpen arm who struggled last year amid rapid promotions. I'm not thrilled since this leaves a void at catcher with just Roberto Perez and Eric Haase - yikes. I sort of get the move in that Gomes may never have more value again - as a 32 y/o catcher, but I can't help but think we are taking yet another step back in 2019. If there was ever a year for the Sox (admittedly my 2nd favorite team after 4 years in Chicago) to get their shit together, this is it.

I read it more as this than signing another free agent catcher, since I'm assuming the plan is for Zack Collins to get a real shot at the job in 2020. Wellington Castillo/Kevan Smith/Seby Zavala is fine until then. I actually really liked Narvaez and I'm sad to see him go. One of the few guys with plate discipline. |
