Surprised that it's RHCP vs Chance since they are both billed as top three overall headliners

Friday and Saturday are great, Sunday is pretty weak

This breaks up really well for every day to be worth going for me.
Friday is probably the weakest for me undercard-wise. But Jay Z, The xx, Hamilton Leithauser, and Sandy (Alex G) isn't bad at all. Saturday is extremely good. A major fest day with Spoon, Cut Copy, Angel Olsen and Car Seat Headrest is wild. Sunday is average but I can really enjoy a day with Killers/Gorillaz, RtJ, Danny Brown, First Aid Kit, Whitney, and Middle Kids

yep i still like that lineup quite a bit and that's a good day by day breakdown for headliners (which doesnt usually happen with acl)

I love the breakdown. Easy headliner choices.

So apparently today the embargo was lifted on every ACL band's Houston show around the fest.
We got shows announced by Spoon, Cut Copy, Car Seat Headrest, RtJ w/Danny Brown, and probably more.
Now I have to put together the puzzle of whether I should still go to ACL for 3 days or if Houston shows + 1-2 days of ACL will suffice.

The xx vs. Jay Z is not something I saw coming. That's a bummer and makes Friday a lot less good. But I gotta see Jay.
Saturday is incredible since there ended up being no conflicts.
Friday: (Sandy) Alex G -> Hamilton Leithauser -> Royal Blood -> Solange -> Jay Z Saturday: Ought -> Mondo Cozmo -> Car Seat Headrest -> Dreamcar -> Angel Olsen -> Cut Copy -> Spoon -> Chance Sunday: Middle Kids -> Danny Brown -> Whitney -> First Aid Kit -> Run the Jewels -> The Killers
Looks like a great weekend!

Saturday is incredible for me, despite headliners I don't care about.

Gorillaz only getting 75 minutes would be a bummer Some bad conflicts on Friday too

Yeah Friday didn't really turn out well but Jay Z is a great finish to the day.
Gorillaz only getting 75 minutes could end up being a good thing, right? At least for casual fans.

Ought is playing shows? Cool. Hope that means new album is on the way. i think they were just on tour and are touring with waxahatchee again this fall. seems like theyve been alternating ought and tim darcy tours thisl year.

www.c3concerts.com/latenight/much better listing, actually lists it in date order Tempted to do the Ryan Adams show but I feel like the people I'll be hanging with won't be interested in that show at all. and also tempted to see Run the Jewels + Danny Brown in Houston that night instead and just go to Austin Friday morning. Not much else interests me. I don't think I could make the RTJ show if I see all of Jay-Z, Whitney conflicts with Ryan Adams, and not going weekend 2.

It's pretty dumb that the aftershows start before the headliners finish.

It's pretty dumb that the aftershows start before the headliners finish. a lot of the indoor venues have doors at 9 or 10 and have openers. I think Stubbs has a hard curfew though because its an outdoor venue.
that being said I really wish they were using ACL Live more instead of Stubb's so it doesn't have to be at the same time as the headliners, but I guess they might be doing ACL tapings all weekend. kind of wish Austin Music Hall was still around so they had a decent sized indoor venue

Hard pass on everything Weekend 1. But it was going to be a tough sell for me to go to any aftershows considering The xx is the only act I'm missing due to conflict AND I'm seeing Spoon again in Houston W2.

I'm in speculation mode for this fest so I'm gonna throw out Beyonce/Arctic Monkeys/Muse Travis Scott/DJ of some sort/The National
i just realized this probably puts Beyonce against the National which sucks but whatever. also maybe Florence instead of Muse
