I think you're probably looking more like Weeknd/AM/Muse on the top there

That seems right. I doubt Beyoncé would be there since she’s hitting Texas with Jay-Z this summer.

Yeah in reality the Weeknd or maybe Eminem is more likely BUT follow my dot connecting here for just a minute last year im pretty sure ACL twitter account followed Beyonce (very unconfirmed idk how to check that) and the whole Jay announcement thing was after the initial line-up which was really weird, they've never done that before And so I present the conspiracy theory that ACL got Coachella'd but it happened before line-up drop and Jay was offered as a replacement so it came late because it was sort of a last minute thing. And the tour this year only hits Houston and Dallas and suspiciously ends on October 4th which happens to be one day before ACL Weekend One

Do stadium tours usually come to Austin ? Seems like Houston and Dallas covers the market for a stadium act

Here's my guess:
Kanye West | Muse | Florence + The Machine Arctic Monkeys | Travis Scott | The National
I put Kanye because Eminem played in 2014, Weeknd and Drake played in 2015 and Kendrick played in 2016 and Jay Z and Chance played in 2017.
Beyonce or Kanye seem like the most likely #1s unless the top 4 is all rock.

Y’all are setting yourselves up for disappointment if you think Beyoncé or Kanye will be the most likely non rock headliner.

3 years is too soon for Abel but not for Flo?

Y’all are setting yourselves up for disappointment if you think Beyoncé or Kanye will be the most likely non rock headliner. Yeah I didn't go into this process thinking that. But it's that or a super lame repeat from 3-4 years ago. Not impossible but yeah, it's definitely interesting how many hip hop headliners they've had in the last 4 years.

guys im really not trying to be a coachella fanboy here but coachella almost definitely has Bey on exclusive lockdown this year as far as festivals go.
firstly i'd make sure that eminem wasnt free that weekend and even then i'd probably still expect one or both of Weeknd or Bruno to cross over to ACL from Lolla (and osl ostensibly?)
Florence, AM, and Janet would be a better start tho.

Childish Gambino announced some new dates with Tyler opening. They both look pretty likely
Oct. 2 – San Jose, Calif. Oct. 3 – Los Angeles, Calif. Oct. 5 – Phoenix, Ariz. Oct. 9 – Denver, Co. Oct. 12 – Nashville, Tenn.

The Weeknd- Muse- Childish Gambino Arctic Monkeys- Travis Scott- The National I think I'd actually kind of enjoy AM/National/Gambino as my headliners
I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment but I'm expecting some sort of slightly out of the box headliner (really I just mean someone not playing every single fest this year) for number 1 though. Maybe Pearl Jam

PJ played in 2014 so I don't think they're super likely but that's definitely plenty of time to be plausible.

New Nat'l tour dates further cement the likelihood of ACL being in their plans.
Could see The National being Sunday at ACL, then Tuesday in Denver, And then like Thursday/Friday in Houston and Dallas before Sunday again at ACL

Reddit for ACL has some good intel compiled.
Based on tour dates and random rumors, Metallica and The Cure seem like the most likely candidates for top 2 rock headliner. Neither has played recently.
My best guesses right now based on what I've read for the most likely headliners: Travis Scott - supposedly semi-confirmed Childish Gambino -skipping Austin, dates around ACL The National - fall tour dates suggest ACL + still haven't done Texas Arctic Monkeys - band member said they are playing US dates in October, no texas dates yet
Those four seem overwhelmingly likely, which leaves two spots, at least one top 2 spot and another anywhere from 1-6. Also, can probably rule out rap since two are already likely. Here are the candidates: Lorde (never played Austin on this tour) The Cure - random Reddit rumor they are doing one US festival this year and there are very few left to announce Metallica - doing only Lubbock and El Paso on Texas tour and haven't played ACL in forever Muse - another possbility for top 2 rock act but nothing to back this up really Odesza - supposedly a radio dj announced this act is playing ACL. could be outside the top 6 though like garrix last year Beck - hasn't played Austin recently, this would feel like a pretty lame booking though Florence + The Machine - played in 2015 so it would feel soon but she's super active in September at fests Vampire Weekend - potentially a subheadliner or maybe just a Lolla exclusive

I'd bet that The Cure does Voodoo since they seem to book those "one US fest" headliners

The real question is whether or not Childish Gambino and Arctic Monkeys are big enough to be #2 and #3 on the lineup.
I'm leaning no. Meaning we may have two large rock acts at the top in front Gambino. I doubt they'd have 3 rap headliners in the top 6.

I'm certain that is the case, especially if they have Metallica as #1

Metallica | Childish Gambino | Arctic Monkeys | Lorde | Travis Scott | The National
Does that feel right?
Definitely a fun, unique group of headliners.

I feel like you could swap Donald with Abel and it looks like a C3 lineup. Gambino isn't doing a ton of dates as it is and 2 weeks of ACL right after Dallas and Houston seems questionable.

Gambino added October dates and he’s in the general area during ACL. Also during that reddit ama Lolla’s booker said they wanted him, but the timing of the tour didn’t work. I think it makes sense that C3 snagged him for ACL.

Yeah I was in the camp thinking it was unlikely with the other Texas dates but now it seems highly possible.

Do a lot of the past ACL headliners do Houston in September before ACL? I hoesntly don't know the answer and haven't looked, it just seems like he's not doing a ton of dates and that's a lot of Texas.

The more I think about it, the less certain it seems. He feels like a possibility but not highly likely. Feels similar to Lorde in the sense that Austin never gets skipped by rock, indie, folk acts but when it comes to arena pop/rap, an itinerary of Houston + Dallas without Austin isn't that rare.

I'd bet that The Cure does Voodoo since they seem to book those "one US fest" headliners unless they actually do have a new album out by then, i cant see it happening. they played in 2013
