is this ever one of those things where scalper tickets get pretty cheap right before the fest? i believe in 2016 a few boarders were able to snag em last minute and find decent flights. it's not impossible but also not a given. weekend 2 seems to the better option for that. weekend 1 always stays >$100 more expensive, i'm sad to say. still worth trying tho! Well because work lined up I'm gonna be flying into LAX the Friday afternoon of weekend 2 and staying the weekend and I actually didn't realize it was Coachella weekend until just now. My plan was originally just hang out in LA but this is suddenly very tempting.

I feel like if you squashed the 4 days of Lolla acts into a 3 day Coachella poster it would look more favorable than usual

I just realized that I'm going to NAB for work and it gets done the Friday of weekend 1. Should I do this?

my biggest thing counting against it is I land at like 340 PM and then it takes like two and a half hours to three hours without traffic to get to the fest and then gotta find parking or whatever (Ill have a rental car) so at that point id miss most of Friday. Granted I'd honestly be happy just seeing Soulwax but still
has anyone done the LAX to fest drive is it pretty awful?

On top of the traffic time, do I need to allocate much time to parking and actually getting into the fest or are they pretty efficient at that?

Friday evening I'm sure it'll be fine.

has anyone done the LAX to fest drive is it pretty awful? I've done the LAX drive several times. Never on the Friday, but, you're looking at about 2:30 IMO. You may catch some of the afternoon rush trying to get out of LA, but if you have a passenger and can use the HOV lanes, it shouldn't be awful. Once you get 45 minutes out, things should clear up and you can fly at 75MPH+ or whatever your comfort level is. Parking is a breeze, that won't cost you any time at all. You want to consider heading South on Washington instead of Madison (which you would think is better, but will definitely have more traffic). Take Washington all the way South to Avenue 52 and THEN head East. Zero traffic and you'll slide right into the day parking. Mile walk to the entry. Tough to say how busy the gates will be...you're looking at 7:30 or so now, so my guess is this'll be a breeze as well. Since you're arriving late, you'll be way back in the day lots, so getting out will probably be a challenge. Normally day parking exit is smooth, but I'm usually getting there before 1PM so I'm right up front to the exit lane. You're going to have to fight/snake your way to the exit lanes, so might be an hour getting out. GLTY.

Looked at the line up again and I don't think I can justify $800 and stressful travel when I loathe Sunday besides 2-3 acts. Saturday is almost too good not to pass up tho
Dam, here's to next year

Getting to the point where I really wish we didn't have to wait the week of for a schedule.
Also, two weeks!
