Hey guys there’s gonna be a lot of traffic this weekend with Bradley graduation and the race for the cure so be sure to check the traffic warnings online before you try to go anywhere tomorrow. If you wanna go out for dinner you should have made a reservation because all the good chains are gonna be booked up. Stay safe out there folks! It’s gonna be a hot one

will big al's be crowded this weekend, thebosma?
back in the day, there was a couple of days' trial taking place in peoria. allegedly, when the trial had finished, the lawyers celebrated by going to big al's. allegedly, the judge was at big al's as well, and the lawyers allegedly waved or shouted out to the judge. allegedly, the lawyers never got bad rulings again from the judge.

Big Als will probably be wild busy this weekend. It was on the senior bar crawl yesterday but I missed that stop because I was hungry and didn’t feel like watching 30 of my classmates drunkenly flash everyone. Apparently it was super crowded though.

Also worthy of note is that it’s basically the only remaining downtown strip club that can stay in business. They actually moved to a new bigger location recently.

I've said it before, it amazes me that one of the landmarks of this fine city is a strip club.

In Peoria news, someone hit the Lydia Moss Bradley statue on Bradley’s campus with their car and destroyed it. That thing is like a million pounds so I’m impressed that nobody died from it. I thought someone told me once she was buried under it but apparently that’s not the case and I’ve lied to a lot of people

The first wave of the Peoria Blues and Heritage festival is out and it includes Buddy Guy and Ben Folds. This is a super fun festival that is very well run. I'm not certain why Ben Folds is at a blues and heritage festival but I am more than ok seeing him with a full band this time.

The festival is August 31 and September 1. They haven't announced daily lineups yet. Assuming they will fill this in with local legends Steady Flow and also Here Come the Mummies when their Bloomington show passes.
EDIT: Apparently Here Come the Mummies are in Peoria and not Bloomington in a month or so. Fun fact, they sell an assload of tickets here every time they play. At the Blues festival in 2016 I met a group of moms that were really into them and wore shirts that said "Here Come the Mommies" on them which was kinda weird.

i can't wait to hear how that's Obama's fault at thanksgiving.
really tho CAT has been fucking that city so hard for a while now that most of my family who worked for them finally switched industries or left town.
thought komatsu might be able to scoop em up but it always feels like people would rather just leave altogether.
wonder if East Peoria is still moving on up?

Easy Peoria has the warehouse district which is really nice considering it added a lot of nice places to eat/shop and displaced exactly 0 people since it was literally a series of abandoned warehouses. It didn’t drive housing costs up either, and gave a lot of low income workers jobs within walking distance. I will always be impressed with how successful that transition was. They’re more stagnant now and really CAT is the big reason everyone is leaving.

in hollywood's defense i can't imagine what it'd be like to try to sit down with any officials from Peoria in 2018 and try to explain how short term shutdowns work for filming purposes.
"but we use that bridge!"
"yes we'll only block it off for 30 minutes at a time to shoot all the scenes we need for about a day or two and won't need it again unless we do another season."
"...but we use that bridge!"

Honestly just stream Lucero: Live From Atlanta its a p good starting point. If your not a live album guy maybe start with Nobody's Darlings, than work backwards, than work forwards
