Apparently the House of Vans is also permanently closing after the Interpol show? That sucks, glad I got to take advantage of that a little bit. Cool space.

Hey who wants to do the velvet underground exhibition with me in October when I’m there? Bought a ticket this morning for the last session of October 14, super excited to catch this

Ugh, didn't get into the Interpol lottery. Guess I'm gonna have to get plenty drunk at this Deerhunter show tomorrow as my revenge.

I got my ticket to the Velvet Underground Exhibit for 11/10. Sent an email to my group but highly doubt anyone else will be interested. Not sure the etiquette on this type of thing with group trips, but I went on the early side so I can meet up with them once I finish up. I didn't want to miss out on this.

That definitely sounds like the way to go. I wouldn't miss it, either, and I'm hoping that that comes around here like the Bowie exhibit did.

Hi friends, I’ll be back in the city Oct. 12-22. I’m definitely gonna hit up the Gorillaz show at Barclays that first weekend and I wanna check out the Velvet Underground exhibit at some point, but otherwise no solid plans.
Any other shows that should be on my radar that people here are going to?

Lucero at Warsaw on 10/12 and The Sidekicks at Market Hotel on 10/16 (they're opening for Tigers Jaw). Nothing else on my radar at the moment, but I expect that will change. If you are a Spiritualized fan, they're playing Kings Theatre on 10/11.

Brooklyn Museum & Prospect Park for near Crown Heights. Have you been to NYC before? I had just turned 19, I was there for three nights and saw Bloc Party every night. All we did then was national history museum and times square. I was a rookie. The person I'm going with this time has never been so I think we'll spend 1 of our 4 days doing that type of stuff, which I'm fine with.

It's one of the touristy spots, but definitely hit up MOMA, one of my favorite art museums in the country.
Edit: Also, all NYC people, go to this

Thirding Gueros - also damn, I hadn't heard of that cafe yet and I live like 5 minutes away from it rn, gonna spend some time there tomorrow for sure.
My favorite bagel place in the neighborhood is Bagel Pub, but Bagel Story on Fulton is also great and less crowded. Also, Bad Seed taproom has old style folk music (think, fiddles, upright bass, etc) every Thursday night and lots of ciders on tap, if that's yr kinda thing.

In that general vicinity: Weather Up for craft cocktails, Covenhoven, Gold Star Beer Counter and Hops Hill for craft beer, Olmstead for a fancy/pricy dinner, David's Brisket House for meat and Emily for pizza/burger. Smorgasburg is every Sunday in Prospect Park (the last date of the season will be sometime in October; not sure if it's operational through the end of the month). Touristy stuff: - Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
- Tenement Museum
- Transit Museum
- Staten Island Ferry (good views of the Statue of Liberty)
- 9/11 Museum/Memorial (not my thing, but some people are really into it)
- High Line
- Empire State Building
- Central Park
- Brooklyn Bridge Park
There are also a bunch of restaurants/bars/breweries I can recommend that are elsewhere in Brooklyn (and a few in Manhattan).

Second the Tenement Museum. You'd need to book ahead to get a good tour, but it's definitely worth your time if you'll be in Manhattan at all.
