Billy Joel basically having a sold-out residency at MSG for the past however many years is one of the dumbest things about NYC.

50% off octfest is pretty nice, but I'm still waiting for the various contests for free passes like they did last year. Has anyone seen any contests for free passes this year? Kicking around the idea of going on Sunday. Looks like the weather will be decent...

LOL I know right? It's close enough to Brooklyn - they should just install a zip line.

Mom + Pop records are doing a 10th anniversary show at Brooklyn Steel on October 22, featuring Courtney Barnett, Neon Indian, Sleigh Bells, Sunflower Bean, Alice Merton, and Tom Morello. Cool bill, but at $52 before fees I'm gonna pass.

and Tom Morello. Cool bill, but at $52 before fees I'm gonna pass. even though the morello show at lincoln hall was $50 a pop, the better half still wanted me to get tix, because morello / the nightwatchman is more or less than only non-oldies act she cares to see in concert.

have lost count of how often the better half and I have seen Morello, borracho. It's usually pretty tough to get her to agree to go to shows anymore, especially general admission shows or overly crowded large shows. lincoln hall is pretty small, so she'll be ok.

I think I've only gotten there early enough once, but those seats up in the balcony are a good spot if you have the time to get there early.

Yeah that's definitely worth the ticket price. It absolutely is a deal for that bill - I'm just not a fan enough of Neon, Sleigh Bells, or Morello to justify that cost for a Courtney Barnett + Sunflower Bean set.

andrewvb thisismyname et al: In general, do Baby's shows start on time or are they more of a "Bottle time" venue? I've only been once before.

Honestly I haven't been in a long time, but on time ish? Feel like they try for on time but sometimes it's a crap shot.

Babys worth checking out? I have it on my list. its a good small venue yeah. Def worth it if there’s a show you wanna see. Late nights seemed to start getting a sloppy vibe so we didn’t go as much, not sure what it’s like now.

Bad news: apparently our airbnb's roof caved in so we had to find a new place
Good news: now staying on the corner of Pacific and nostrand which is much closer to what a lot of you have recommended on franklin, closer to a subway stop, cheaper, and has two beds instead of one bed and one couch.

Is anyone going to TVotR tonight?

I was at the TVotR show. More than made up for me not catching them on the Dear Science tour. Strange that they chose to end with Satellite over Staring at the Sun or Wolf Like Me since the crowd was crazier during those songs, but maybe Satellite worked better with the confetti cannon? Either way I was very happy they played it.
