Heaters are doing a record release 11/2 in NYC instead of here and now I hate that stupid garbage city.

Heads up for any NYC National fans - tickets for There's No Leaving New York have been steadily falling on Stubhub. I've been tracking Saturday to see National/Isbell/Bridgers and they're at $55 now, $20 below face. Gonna pull the trigger if it dips below $50

Gonna pull the trigger if it dips below $50 If you don't mind being in the seating bowl rather than the floor, they're giving away tickets for both days. Linkh/t to rango420 - I didn't have my email open this morning and might have missed this. Edit: if you are holding out for Saturday floor tickets, I'll sell you my pair for cheap if my stepsons decide they want to join us.

So the free tickets were gone, but I just grabbed a Saturday on SH for $9 after fees? I'm a little worried it's a scam, cuz the bottom totally fell out and a bunch of same priced GA tickets are there now. I figure, if it is, I'll get refunded and there ought to be plenty of cheap, real tickets for sale so it's not a problem.

Real talk, has there been any show at that venue that didn’t give away tickets and / or have a crazy discount? It’s kind of wild.
I guess they sell a lot of beer idk

Real talk, has there been any show at that venue that didn’t give away tickets and / or have a crazy discount? It’s kind of wild. I guess they sell a lot of beer idk Arctic Monkeys and Tom Petty are two that I know did not have free tickets / big discounted tickets. I wish I could have gotten an email for free tickets to Tom Petty . But yeah, most of their shows this year seem to not be selling well.

I think they've only offered the four-pack ticket giveaways for a few shows this season (Belle & Sebastian is the other one I know for sure). I'm certain Robert Plant, Van Morrison and David Bryne didn't have any discounted tickets. Not really sure about the other shows this year. I think National sold out their late summer/early autumn show last year at Forest Hills.
I appreciate the free ticket offers, but I hope it doesn't mean that the venue is financially unsustainable. It's one of the nicest places to see a show in the five boroughs.

The National festival is so poorly programmed though, With the exception of maybe Cat Power none of those acts are in any way special or rare or even particularly associated with the National.

Not to mention how short some of the sets are for the early, rising acts. I'd love to catch US Girls, as I missed them play the Bottle in April, but I'm not interested at all in a 30 minute slot in a 1/4 full stadium.
That said, I've never seen Isbell before somehow, so I'm amped for his hour tomorrow.

I'd assume this is the full lineup for the NY Comedy Festival. Maybe they'll add a few more shows, but it looks pretty full as it stands. I'm going to try to catch one or two podcast tapings, maybe? nycomedyfestival.com/line-up/

Just realized both Jason Isbell and Phoebe Bridgers have songs about Ryan Adams on their most recent albums. Let's get some duets today!!

Imm in love with Forest Hills Stadium - didn't realize they held the US Open here forever so I've been geeking out at the various plaques and stuff they have everywhere. Also The Beatles played their first US show here?? And Hendrix opened for the Monkees here back in like 67??? Like, holy shit. Also, it's very pretty, well run, and I hope their attendance woes don't scare them away from booking so many indie friendly shows next year.

Side note: Is there any job in the music world more boring than being the drummer for Cigarettes After Sex?

I'd be down were I not 4th row stage center - ending up pulling the trigger on cheap GA floor tickets and unloaded my already Uber discounted bowl seats yesterday. Would be down to say hi after the show tho, I've got a white Lucy Dacus shirt on and a white, Cleveland block C hat on.

I’ve got Mrs. Doso and kids in tow so it’s likely we’re making an early exit from the seating bowl. Enjoy being up front and we’ll meet up at the next one!

By the way, you might not be able to see from your vantage point, but from house left in the seating bowl, Mars, Jupiter, then Venus are visible (from left to right when the lights are down), perfectly tracing out the plane of our solar system. Which is fucking fabulous.

What don't you understand? The map? I've been putting it together in my free time - basically anything that piques my interest, and I also opened it up to my group.
