Aww man this rips!! Got my eye on: Tank + the Bangas 6/20 ; Calexico + Iron and Wine + Adia Victory 6/21 ; Tortoise plays TNT 6/22 ; Liz Phair / Ted Leo / Caroline Rose 6/29 ; Van Dyke Parks (Omggg!!!) 7/12 ; and that Nilufer Yanya set with the surprise headliner on 7/25. Gonna be out of town for Sudan Archives, Mick Jenkins, and Oddisee which is a bummer but still, this looks amazing. ooooo I'm wondering if the surprise headliner is Yola - she has an appearance at the Newport Folk Festival on July 26...

You were sorta right? Yola is opening a Lincoln Center Out of Doors show for Patty Griffin on August 10!

Very psyched about Jeff Tweedy playing there. Yola, too, of course. And Roy Wood, Jr. is there on August 3!

Of note, Charles Bissel of the Wrens will be playing songs that will supposedly be on the next Wrens album. He has another solo show in the area on 6/13 opening for Nicole Yun at Alphaville.

That is pretty tight. I might jump on that.
Anyone going to add Ms. Patti Labelle to the ol' Trapper Keeper at Celebrate Brooklyn's season opener tonight?

Two incredible bills just got added to Lincoln Center's Out of Doors fest!
August 1 - Blood Orange / Kelsey Lu
August 11 - David Crosby / Anais Mitchell
I'll hopefully be at both!

Oh wow I missed those announcements.
Also: Ms. Patti Labelle's Celebrate Brooklyn! show at the Prospect Park Bandshell was SPECTACULAR. I thought she'd be okay, but she far exceeded my expectations. Great band, fun crowd, beautiful weather. Couldn't ask for more.

At one point she broke it down and did the whole Lemme-Tell-Y’all-About-Everything-I-Do-For-MY-MAN-Cuz-I-Love-Him routine:
<Patti singing lightly over vamping music>
"Before he comes hoooooooooome... I put on a new wig... I put on a new dress... I BAKE HIM A PATTI PIE!!!"
<crowd goes fucking bonkers>

Did anyone get a ticket giveaway offer for Death Cab/Jenny Lewis at Forest Hills tonight? Most of the upper bowl appears to be unsold and I fully expected they'd offer some freebies, but nothing in my email so far.

Nothing for me yet - I've been entering all kinds of DoNYC / BV contests over the past year, but only won something once so far. Was planning on checking out the Sun Ra Arkestra today, but they got preemptively rained out and rescheduled to September 1st

So the Isbell / Misty show at Prospect Park is almost certainly not gonna happen tonight, right? Forecast calling for thunderstorms all evening. Kinda bummed as I've been Stubhub stalking it for a few weeks and it's finally down to reasonable prices ($28 at the moment)

I think the forecast is the only reason the tickets have gotten so cheap.

I think the forecast is the only reason the tickets have gotten so cheap. Yea they were slowly trending down - maybe to the high 40s? But then took a dive when the rain came yesterday, down to $20 now. Honestly, might take the chance if they go to like $10-15 and hope to at least hear Isbell in the rain. Can walk over from my apartment so it can be a game-time call.

Doesn't StubHub protect buyers if shows are cancelled?
I know we bought seats secondhand for one of the 1975 shows I missed and we still got refunded in full for the purchase.
