Artists announced for the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn free shows, from BV:
"Artists scheduled to perform include Yaeji (who curated her own lineup with KeiyaA and Nappy Nina), Lido Pimienta, Skip Marley, Mr. Eazi, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Junglepussy, Buffy Sainte Marie, Naia Kete, Ladama, Tiga Jean-Baptiste, DJ Ali Coleman, Vijay Iyer, Joel Ross, Melanie Charles, Mahogany Browne, Ivy Sole, Tygapaw, Rita Indiana, Attacca Quartet, San Fermin, Son Little, and Yendry. There will also be a movie night featuring 1973 documentary Wattstax, and a night devoted to dance, featuring the Passion Fruit Dance Company and DJ sets from Soul Summit Dance Party and St James Joy."
No dates yet that I can find, but I'd love to catch Lido Pimienta, Trombone Shorty, Vijay Iyer, and Buffy Sainte Marie. I seem to always have conflicts with the summer shows I want to see, hopefully that doesn't happen this year.

Also, Nicole Atkins on July 8 in Wagner Park (Battery Park City) for free as part of River & Blues Fest (Thursdays in July). I don’t recognize the other artists: Devon Gilfillian, Ranky Tanky and Rev. Sekou & the Freedom Fighters.

I'm sure most NYC folks already saw this, but the Summerstage free schedule is out! I'm interested in Gloria Gaynor at Coney Island, Sun Ra Arkestra (!!!!) at Central Park, Marc Rebellit w/ DJ Premier, and the Charlie Parker Celebration. Of course three of the coolest shows - Wynton Marsalis, Antibalas, and Patti Smith (!!!!) - are on nights when I'm out of town. So it goes! Edit: Forgot to mention the wild Armand Hammer / Alchemist / Moor Mother bill - I'm def gonna try and make that |

I think it’s already sold out but did anyone else get tix? Gonna try to pull double duty with Circuit des Yeux at Knockdown (starts at 8 with no opener) then PQ at MHOW (starts at 9 with an opener). Not sure how doable it is but I guess we’ll find out.

Our Airbnb host cancelled our reservation on Roosevelt Island for NYE  Ended up finding a place in Astoria, but very slightly bummed since it's like a block away from where we stayed last time and I wanted to see a different part of the city. Excited to be able to walk to Single Cut though. I remember their beer being great and there being a solid pizza place across the street. |

- Graduating in May from U of I
- Has a job lined up
- Will need to commute to Empire State Building two or three days per week
- At least one roommate, maybe two or three
- No details about budget
Where do the kids live these days?

from what i've heard the rental market is absolutely fucked these days - bidding wars for studios lmao - but i would recommend ridgewood if she is looking to have more of a youthful nightlife vibe, or prospect lefferts gardens (where i lived) if she values more being close to green space, quiet, and an easy commute; both areas i would describe as "safe" but I think I come from a biased perspective for sure
