Solid rock record. To me, they sound really focused and like they're having fun.
A+ 10/10 eggplants

I didn't listen to this 'til today because a bunch of my friends wouldn't shut up in our chat the day it came out on how great it was and how it was maybe their best album ever and all sorts of shit that made me hate it through no artistic fault of its own. Having now listened to it they might have been correct all along. Maybe. Blown away on first listen though

"A left in love with its own marginality. Theirs is the sound of an inverse solidarity, one that revels in the sanctimonious condemnation of people not quite up to speed whilst offering up no valid counter strategy.”
looooll
I can't.

Having now listened to it they might have been correct all along. Maybe. Blown away on first listen though My review of this will be going up on Spectrum Culture I believe tomorrow, so I've spent a lot of time with this album since release. It took some time for me to actually let the themes sink in. I'm a big fan of Crack-Up, so while I don't think this surpasses it, it does build off of it excellently. Not really a bad track honestly, and the vast array of influences present makes this a very rich album in textures. I agree with all of the noteworthy tracks already mentioned and would also throw out "I'm Not My Season," it has some of the most uplifting lyrics I've heard this year. Truly a gem of an album and it fits perfectly in their catalog.

Really digging this White Fence record lately - finally checked them out after Aquarium Drunkard played "Sandra" on their latest radio show.

This has slowly crept into my top 10 Lianne La Havas if you aren't familiar. Very soulful and she has a great Radiohead cover in the middle. Very underrated album quite honestly. 5th listen of this album. I can't get enough of it.

This was very good as I hoped. A.G. Cook's production definitely helps on alot of the songs.

It didn't come out today, but the new SAULT record slaps. P4K highlighted in their "missed records of summer" yesterday.

This was better than the last Shamir album I listened to, but nowhere near as great as Ratchet still. This one is a little more straightforward rock this time.

Dunno if TVOTR is the right analogy but definitely very good. Going all over the board here genrewise and I'm digging it. I expect I will listen to "Mustang" like 300 more times by years end

i've been really bad about talking about all the great things going on in metal this year and will probably due a big summary post at some point. but at least for this week, the new albums from Sumac and Rezn are absolutely fantastic and very very board approved.
a bit off the board's path, but Greg Puciato of Dillinger Escape Plan dropped his solo album on bandcamp a few weeks early and it is absolutely stellar. it has some mathy metal tunes like DEP, but a large number of new wavy dance tracks like his side project the Black Queen, and several others that do a terrific job of melding the two into a NIN style sound that really really rocks.

Had no idea that Rezn had a new one out.
If you wanna hear Kurt Vile play John Prine songs y'all should check his new EP out.
