Have had this reissue / remix version in rotation for the last month, and I gotta say it's a massive improvement over the original. The songs themselves sound refreshed, like brimming with energy like their first two records - but I felt was lacking a bit when I listened to the original Stage Fright mixes. And, tho I'm not a Robbie Robertson truther by any means, his reordered tracklist here is objectively better than the original - which I always felt had weird flow. Would put this in a tier alongside Big Pink and the self-titled. A masterpiece.

I expect to be going back to the Adult Mom album a lot. Crazy to think that 6 years has gone since the debut album and they never got....bigger over that time. This is not exactly the same genre but my gut tells me anyone who liked the Waxahatchee album from last year should take the half hour and check it out.
I also listened to the Denzel/Kenny remix album and it was fine.

They lost me a bit after Swoon, but I've seen them enough times to not care much. They are fantastic live and can almost do no wrong after those first 2.5 records. I will be covering Panic Switch in my other band soon, I think (My Blue Hope). I'd rather play a diff one, but ain't my call!

Also the new of Montreal double album is wild. Extremely weird and dark with some classic bangers sprinkled in. Reminds me of an unproblematic Ariel Pink listening to a bunch of Ween during a global pandemic

i pulled that up the other day but turned it off during the first song bc it just wasn't my mood at the time. i did notice that apple music tagged it as "christian/gospel" tho which i thought was odd and wondered how the album goes in that vein.

Yea this is great - they’d dropped off my radar a bit since that debut record, but this is maybe the best singer-songwriter album of the year so far.

Do kings of Leon have a good song beyond “Use Somebody”? I swear it’s that song that has kept them relevant the past decade

Painted Shrines is a Woods album and if you like Woods you should listen to it! Maaajor Ultimate Painting meets The Byrds vibes from this one I know its already happened in some circles, but I think it's time to elevate to the inner pantheon of 60s groups.

Pretty sure Rango clued me into this band when their debut came out in 2018 - its been a consistent favorite since then and an excellent piece of Americana / country-fried rock. Their follow-up just came out on Friday and veers into jammy territory (esp on the 9 minute opener). It's epic, try it out.

Back in 2016 when I started collecting vinyl, amazon was trying to sell off copies of a 7LP box set of their first three albums for $16... it ended up being a good deal because the first it's all of their good/decent albums and now the set is out of print and going for $100+ on discogs.

Yet another exciting, young UK band - Do Nothing - released an EP today, and it's awesome. Their older stuff took particular influence from LCD Soundsystem ("Gangs") and the Strokes, if they had been good in the last decade ("Contraband"). Those influences are still apparent, but there's also reference points to Kid A-era Radiohead and, yes, The Fall, on this new one. Some really strong basslines throughout, and just generally good songs. Would recommend!

Lushlife's new EP is pretty good, tho the finale is the best part imo. also, Closer has their second one out today.

I will say though that this week is pretty damn dry to me compared to other weeks. Next week at the very least is the new Chad VanGaalen, Middle Kids, and to some extent Lana Del Rey which I haven't heard yet. 3/26 is gonna be a banger though - I love the new Antlers record, and the best Tune-Yards record in a decade, plus serpentwithfeet. I've also heard the new Iceage and it fucking rips.
