It was good, not great, not even close to her best, but I like the approach and the tracks will grow on me for sure

Listened to this for the first time today - and I think I'm about 3-4 months away from being a TMBG guy

This is pretty great! The 6-7 songs they released leading up to the album are definitely the strongest IMO, but that might just be because I've only given the entire album a once over so far. Pretty surprised that they got such a high P4K score. Very interested to see what the crowds are their upcoming shows are like.

Yeah I guess the fork decided this was gonna be the one album Ian Cohen reviews that they give BNM to this year. I'll check it out today. I can't remember what else is coming out today.

Like I understand because Halsey worked with Trent I am now supposed to take her seriously but she has long been boring.

Like I understand because Halsey worked with Trent I am now supposed to take her seriously but she has long been boring. I understand. I gave it a shot, about half of the album has a clear NIN influence and that is obviously the good half. The other half sounds like something you'd see mid-day at Riot Fest. Not particularly memorable.

Everyone is forgetting the new 3OH!3 which was your favorite track, POUND TOWN or SKID MARKS? SKID MARKS was definitely the funniest because it’s trying to be a serious song about moving on but the chorus is something along the lines of “Skid marks always wash out”. It rocks that these two 40 year old men are 1. Doing party rap music still and 2. Being as juvenile as possible. They’re at the age where singing about finger blasting someone in a school bathroom is an admission of a crime rather than a brag, but they still do. Review forthcoming from the site I write for

I'd go as far as to say He Said She Said is is the worst song on the album, and even that has kind of grown on me a bit. But, I also didn't hate Love is Dead, so my thoughts on Chvrches probably aren't going to fall in the majority around these parts.

Been listening to a lot of music from the British folk boom of the late 60s and early 70s. Really remarkable stuff! This kick was spurred by reading a biography of Sandy Denny, the solo artist and singer of Fairport Convention, and her solo album above is beautiful. Actually, each of these records is deeply special - been listening to the John Martyn album at least once a day for the last week. Incredible String Band are zanier and waaay more effective at writing catchy, off-kilter tunes than any of their Greenwich contemporaries (Fugs, especially). Bridget St. John's debut is a masterpiece. I saw one contemporary critic compare her voice to a cello, and I think I get it? The title track is an era-defining highlight, and the whole album holds up. And Tim Buckley's voice is an absolute treasure. I was already familiar with the perfect Happy Sad, but this one is nearly as good. Listen to "I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain" if you only have time for one track, amongst all of these albums.

I also made this Sandy Denny playlist, if anyone is interested. Featuring her best vocal performances in Fairport (one of the GOAT bands), Fotheringay, and her solo albums.
