Can’t wait to have a contrarian take on Mitski whenever I get around to it

My takes so far today:
Mitski - Kind of forgettable unfortunately. Really did not do much for me through most of the album. Animal Collective - Very good, I agree with one website that said it might be their most accessible album. Not my favorite of theirs by far, but it ain't bad.
A Place to Bury Strangers - Very good again, the lineup shakeup helped give them a little life again. Black Country, New Road - This is a surprise, definitely better than I expected. Getting more of a GY!BE vibe than their last album. They're really going to have to reinvent themeselves or something now that the lead guy is gone.

I have listened to 1 new album so far this year, but maybe that'll change next week? Currently in the Cherry-verse now.

I'm only a couple of songs in but I can already tell I'm going to have to pretend to like this Miksti album more than I do on the dating apps this year

Yeah, this is a masterpiece. This is dope. I guess the band has said the bassist girl will be doing vocals from now on and they won't be playing any songs live off this record or the first one going forward. That should be interesting.

Really liked the new Mitski album. "Heat Lightning" is as good as anything she's ever made. "Love Me More" is right up there too.
I thinK I prefer it to Be the Cowboy, but I prefer Puberty 2 and Bury Me at Makeout Creek to either of her last two albums.

Yeah, this is a masterpiece. I sincerely hope they are able to move forward as a band. This is gorgeous. Can feel Arcade Fire and Godspeed's influence all over this. The last 3 songs are probably the best run we'll get on an album this year and yes I know we are only in early February

Imagining getting to hear some of these songs at Lincoln Hall is getting me teary-eyed

Much like the Low album last year, I can see that the Black Country, New Road album is probably objectively very good but it does nothing for me.

This was not at all what I expected, I was expecting some jammy type band that would be on a street fest at 2:00. This is really good, riyl Chvrches and Passion Pit Also, today I learned this band is from LA and not Chicago. I thought for sure they were with that name.

This Animal Collective album is fun, seems like a "return to form" so to speak. I dunno about it being their most accessible but there's some good tunes and I see myself going back to it

One of the best, most fun records. Still need to check out that Sparks documentary that Edgar Wright did. Anyone here see it? it's fun. there's a ton of footage i'd never seen before and it features a wide range of people. i enjoyed it quite a bit.

Never listened to alt-J before. New album is mostly fine with a couple absolute piles of shit along with a couple genuinely good songs.

They were everywhere in like 2013/2014 I just listened to some of their top tracks on Spotify and the only one I heard before was "Left Hand Free"
