This is really great. Debut by System Exclusive. Looked up their tour and they're playing a free show at the Bottle on April 18th. Pretty sick. mention of a free bottle show will get me to check this out

I've been reading Dilla Time over the last week and a half and I've probably listened to this about 8 times since then. And "Pause" probably 20 times lmao.

Stumbled on someone recommending this in a Stereogum comment about Ian Noe. Sam was a Canadian songwriter who rarely recorded. This CD is supposedly a compilation of two independently released tapes, from 1994. It's honestly jaw-dropping. A beautiful folk-country album that reminds me in equal parts of Townes Van Zandt, Steve Goodman, and 70s Dylan. Highly, highly, highly recommended. I might drop $40 on a CD on discogs tbh.
Edit: Apparently one tape was from 1989, the other from 1992. Idk how this has so little listeners. How has this not been plucked up by Numero or something??

New Aldous Harding is excellent. She has such a gift for writing gorgeous folk songs that are just wonky enough that they keep revealing more and more with every listen. One of the reasons why Designer remains a big favorite of mine. This one doesn't reach that level quite yet, but it's a lovely follow-up. Give it another listen if it doesn't immediately click at first.

A gorgeous, gorgeous album. Also been listening to Fantastic Vol. 2 pretty much once a day for two weeks. Unreal stuff.

This Denzel Curry album unfortunately was boring and I turned it off half way thru. Still a set I'm excited about at Coachella tho cause of everything else in the history of his catalog. That Koffee album didn't do anything for me but I can absolutely see her blowing up as we go along this year I now have the Buddy album on, who was a rapper that unlikelyjapan told me to see at Lollapalooza whatever year that was. I don't know where he is now, but I hope wherever he is he is doing well (and checking out this Buddy album)

I liked it, but yeah this take makes sense. I really liked "Walkin" but the rest kinda faded into the background. The track with Saul Williams was cool too, but maybe that caught my ear because his verse was a poem that he read at Big Ears last weekend.

Finding myself drawn back to this album as something I'll throw on when I'm not sure what I want to listen to next. Same thing happened with her last LP too. I think I like this one more on the whole, but I find it really lags in the backhalf. Everything through "Midnight Sun" is fire tho. Lots of In Rainbows influence in 2022 releases!

First really great jazz album I've heard this year, tho I'm admittedly off to a slower exploratory start than I'd like. Sax and drums duo from the London Scene collabing with an ambient electronics / tape manipulation dude, idk. It's really cool - straddling free / spiritual jazz and ambient jazz.

I'm halfway through the new Sondre and it is lovely of course.
Listened to the new Christian Lee Hutson already today too, very similar to the last one, so that was good.

There are some bops on the new RHCP album but the usual problems with this band remain which is that three of these guys are very good at their jobs... I am sure I'll be at the Soldier Field show.

The new Jack White album has some monster tracks. "Eosophobia" is one of his best tracks ever. Can't wait to hear these live.

The Soul Glo album riiiiiiips. It’s like a combination of McLusky, Death Grips, and Full of Hell, which are like my three favorite things.

Well, I can say that I earnestly, honestly gave this a shot. It was aggressively fine. Sort of felt like last year's (excellent) Wild Pink album except with singing, lyricism, melodies, and instrumentation choices that I liked a lot less. Reminded me a bit of Manchester Orchestra, another band that sounds very just fine to me. I look forward to hearing its lead single over the next few months at Planet Fitness or something.
