King Gizz record is a ripper. Gaaaahdaaaamn.
I really need to see these guys - really kicking myself for not seeing them after Quarters! came out in 2015. I fell off the boat after that (just got into other stuff) and didn’t come back around until 2020.

new Home is Where and Origami Angel albums are both great Came here to shout-out the Home Is Where record - instantly one of the best of the year. “Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!” is the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! resurgence I’ve been waiting for.

this is a solo project from the peter of peter, bjorn & john. it's all over the place with folk, psych, rockabilly. it comes across as the type of thing that he's been cobbling together on the side for years. there are a few very good songs, but it's mostly snoozy.

Joanna Sternberg album that P4k plugged with an 8.6 BNM this morning is really good. Stripped-back, piano driven singer-songwriter record that reminds me in equal bits of Joanna Newsom, Lavender Country, and, like, early TMOE or Devendra Banhart records, but more plain-spoken / outwardly earnest. Will be interesting to see if it sticks with me throughout the year or if the charm will wear off.

New Local Natives is kind of a snooze, not much there. Pretty short album though. New PJ Harvey is out today too, not getting my hopes too high for that

S/o to the Smile for playing "Peace Piece" as their exit music. Spending the morning with this beautiful giant of a record.

Not that I'm particularly on time to the party either but this ANOHNI & The Johnsons album is incredible and I can't believe no one else on here's been talking about it

Just got around to the Bonny Doon record today and really enjoyed it. ANOHNI's on the queue.

I listened to HOPELESSNESS today (I am finding myself going back to this more in recent years than almost any other album that came out in the 2010s) with the intention of listening to the new one. Then I forgot.
HOPELESSNESS still incredible though.

If you've yet to see Bully you definitely should at least pencil it in next time she's in town/announces a tour Edit/Nana: Apparently I've seen Bully only twice myself, both in 2015. On July 18, 2015 they opened for Protomartyr as part of a Pitchfork aftershow (I'm pretty sure). Big Ethan got the poster/watched with me a sold out Bully show, and then like maybe 2/3's of a sold out Schubas show leave before Protomartyr. "A bunch of dumbshits", we both said of these people. probably. The other time was at Lolla like 2 weeks later between Albert Hammond Jr. and Of Monsters and Men

Went over and camped for TVOTR afterwards. Also caught them opening for Cloud Nothings that January - it was the first time I went to the Metro.

Yep. This was remarkable. Need a few more listens for everything to really sink in, but it was clear my first time through that it's a winner.
