Somehow it's my first time listening to this one in full. I'm at the end of "Angels and Fuselage" right now and am honest-to-god devastated. Full-on chills. Fuck.

Yes. This is so fucking good. I need them all to stop making such great solo music since there will be no incentive to come back as the XX.

Can I tell you how happy I was this morning when I had "She's On My Mind" playing over the classroom speakers before first period and kids were walking in and singing along to it?

New Mitski is quite good. No standout tracks on the first listen, but it's an intentional step back to her early work which is way more up my alley musically than her two most recent albums.

I wouldn't call this top tier National but it's so much better than Frankenstein in every way

Catching up on Friday's releases because festing Agreed on the new National album, definitely better than Frankenstein and probably one of their best in a while. Tried the new Mitski, that's the third one in a row that I just do not connect with. Oh well, I tried. No surprises from either Explosions in the Sky or San Holo, both were good and right in line with what they have done before

Been majorly obsessed with this one over the last week. Delectable power-pop with a dash of alt-country muscle, much more pop-forward from their already hooky-as-hell Too Far to Care. Reminds me in the best way of Fountains of Wayne.

The new mix of The Replacements - Tim is a revelation. Like, wow. I loved the original mix for its dingy, tinny charm (it was my #5 album of the 80s, IIRC), but this is next level. A must listen today.

A must listen today. Absolutely. I don’t get too jazzed about reissues (even including the Pleased to Meet Me deluxe treatment from last year - my top 80s album), but the Ed Stasium remix is absolutely vital if you love this record. Makes a huge difference when the engineer/producer isn’t suffering from severe tinnitus. I’ll also add that this YouTube “behind the scenes” video with Bob Mehr and Ed Stasium is worth 22 minutes or your time if you view Tim as an important album.

I guess Mehr wasn’t kidding when he said (just yesterday), “ This little film won’t be up long so check it out while you can (like now)!” :/

Been on an 80s Neil Young journey over the last week or so, as I work my way through the 700+ page tome Shakey. Maaan I can't believe I hadn't heard this one yet. Fucking killer. Once I'm done, I'll probably throw together a playlist of 80s-90s Neil, as well as some great bootleg recommendations (largely from the 70s).
