Stay Inside, an emo band I like, just put out their new album today, instead of Friday for some reason. Very good stuff anyways. And thanks to a notification from Beat Kitchen, I now know there is also a band called Stay Outside, so add that to the list of confusing band names. Loving this...my favorite thing this week after the Topiary Creatures album. Mannequin Pussy and Pissed Jeans were pretty sick too.

Pretty happy with my listening experience today. Only thing I didn't jive with so much was Faye Webster, and the new Sheer Mag was kinda dull.

Listened to Pissed Jeans, Mannequin Pussy and Yard Act this afternoon. I liked a fair amount of the Pissed Jeans record. Not the kind of thing I’d listen to a lot but I bet I’d love it live. I liked Mannequin Pussy even better. Yard Act was okay and it *really* fell apart for me with the eight minutes of dumb spoken word shit at the end. Also gave the new S-K a listen - meh. Still might go see them week after next for 25% off on that T-Mobile deal.

The listened to the Friko record, too. Best of today’s bunch. Hope they come back to NYC soon.
Is it pronounced Freako or Fricko? I hope it’s Freako.

New Pissed Jeans makes me want to grab my 30 year old rotting skateboard and go practice kickflips.

Schoolboy Q and Faye Webster didn't do much for me on first listen. This must be the 30 year old hill I hit since everything is kinda blah now

that was supposed to go in the jazz thread but love giving grant green some exposure in the outrageously more-popular/visible 'albums you listened to today' thread

The new Q album is a bit of a mess. The production rules, but I don’t think it’s a good sign when the best track on your 2024 record is the Ab-Soul feature.

Reminder to those who enjoyed the Bolis/Charlotte sets last year that his solo album is out now, and it's great

Kim Gordon album is really great, big fan. Might have to go to that show.
Ariana Grande album is good. Doesn’t stand amongst her best I don’t think but there’s some catchy pop hooks that are fun as hell.

As a fan of Pissed Jeans, I'm still waiting on the new album to click with me after 2 listens.

Ew WTAF this Kim Gordon record is garbage aoty I'm only three songs in right now, but this is kinda awesome. One of the only things I've heard so far this year that actually commands your attention.

Finally got around to that Friko album - and yea I'm a fan. Dramatic, swelling, Clap-Your-Hands-Say-Yeah-ass music. Hell yes. Indie rock is back, baby!
