I really dug that Tricot album for the most part. The songs on the second half didn't distinguish themselves as much as the first few, but they were still a nice listen. I would've been all about this in high school or early college when I was really into mathy pop-punk. I still enjoyed it quite a bit, even if I think it could be a touch shorter. I went in with no real expectations and I enjoyed the Tricot album a lot. I am not well-versed in math rock as a genre, so I wouldn't be able to accuratelly explain what makes this stand out from other examples - it feels more 'fun' and poppy to me, but I could just be drawing a connection that isn't really there because of the vocals and my interest in J-pop. Still, I'm going to check out the rest of Tricot's discog for sure.

this is a pretty good selection for an extended "greatest hits" thing

It's been a weirdly long time between Christopher Owens albums. Hopefully there is something released in 2017.

Still, I'm going to check out the rest of Tricot's discog for sure. THE, AND, and their Kabuku EP from last year are all better than the new album, though the new album is still good. For some reason the album art is hideous though, especially compared to their previous albums' covers.

It's Friday! A three day weekend summons us, and the internet has graced us with a very small release of albums. AOTW: The Sea Life - S/T - I think I've already spoken about the sound of this album. It's basically Hamilton Leithauser singing over a Deerhunter album. Draws comparisons to the Black Lips too. This isn't a life altering album obviously, but it's fun, and a minor highlight in a week of mostly nothing. Other stuff out today Thunder Dreamer: Capture - indie rock type thing The I.L.Y.'s : Bodyguard - Stereogum gave it AOTW, but it's been out since last week I think. I dunno, didn't seem to me that it was that great but who knows. Cende: #1 Hit Single - pop punkish, so I've read. Pet Symmetry: Vision - punk of some sort Martin Rev (of Suicide) : Demolition 9 Danzig: Black Laden Crown Nick Cave/Warren Ellis : War Machine soundtrack/score. The Charlatans: Different Days - I don't know what this is but it doesn't sound like something I'd like. Molly Nilsson : IMAGINATIONS Kite Base: Latent Whispers - Description says its like a post-punk type of thing. There's a lil Yachty album out too. Some small diddies here: www.stereogum.com/1942537/album-of-the-week-the-i-l-ys-bodyguard/franchises/album-of-the-week/Also, this shows a list of releases for the month: www.albumoftheyear.org/2017/releases/may-05.phpKeep in mind though, it also has singles releases, not just albums.

I feel like it became uncool to like this album/band over the years but it's one of the first albums that the board turned me onto back in 2008 and it holds a special place in my heart because of it.

Honestly wish I would have given this more listens when it came out. Might sneak into my top 10 for this year
