Noted. It'll be tough for me not to just watch the Sox in a Sox bar, but I'll keep an open mind. On this note, I really hope they upgraded the TVs at the new bar. I mean, I'm not gonna be there for a ton of time, but I would like to be able to adequately 'hydrate' myself and catch some of the game before we leave. Hopefully the tv situation isn't miserable. I have pretty low standards for tvs mind you.

I'd pick Italy too, but ultimately, it depends what type of vacation you want

Florence (and the nearby Tuscany hills) is my own favourite, and from there, it is also easy to tag one or two days in Venice
But Rome has also plenty to offer (especially if you are an history geek)

I spent two weeks in the northeast of the Florence area. Also visited Rome, Venice, and went on a road trip to Slovenia and Austria. The people in Slovenia were awesome, BTW.
I would go back in a heartbeat.

I'm not dying to go back to Jamaica. I'm trying to figure out when I'll get to go back to Italy.

The area around Great Lakes Brewery is pretty nice. I went in the dead of winter and still enjoyed myself for the most part.

Also does anyone have any general thoughts on Cleveland? I like Cleveland. Good beer town. Micheal Symon restaurants. Rock & Roll HoF is fun. Cleveland Indians stadium is cool. I could make a fun time out of a couple days in Cleveland.

Also does anyone have any general thoughts on Cleveland? Actually some decent restaurants. Not really much in the way of activities or touristy stuff, though. When/how long will you be there?

We always go to GL Brewery, that is my favorite spot. I've talked about the ice cream place a block away from it, Mitchels. It's fantastic, they renovated an old movie theater, and you can watch them make the ice cream in the back portion. Fantastic flavors too.

I spent two weeks in the northeast of the Florence area. Also visited Rome, Venice, and went on a road trip to Slovenia and Austria. The people in Slovenia were awesome, BTW. I would go back in a heartbeat. I don't know if anyone cares, but I need to tell you the story of our visit to Slovenia. We entered Slovenia at the border hoping to get our passport stamped but we were just waved through. I guess that Slovenia had just joined the EU a few years earlier. Took the first exit for a town to get something to drink. The town was like a ghost town. We walked around taking pictures and stuff until we heard three cars approaching us on the main road through town. They were honking their horns and swerving around and as they passed us threw out handfuls of candy to us. (Never take candy from a stranger, but in Slovenia, it's alright) We think they may have been a wedding party, but that may be how they welcome Americans to their country. Finally found a bar that was open and went inside to buy something cold to drink.. Big difference between Italy and Slovenia: Slovenia like ice in the drinks. The first bartender spoke no English and was confused when I tried to give him a tip. So, I told him I wanted to buy him a drink. The second bartender spoke a little English and we had a great time. The locals were friendly and asked us questions about the US.

It's a very Midwest city, all those pros and cons. I have several friends who love living there, though; a couple even moved down here for a few years and then missed Cleveland so much they went back.

The weather is nice, it's not crowded, they're starting to decorate for Christmas...If you have the chance to go during that time, you really should do it.

We made a Thanksgiving trip to Paris last Thanksgiving and it was pretty perfect.
I'd think Jamaica is an easier trip to make so you should probably jump at going to Rome, but that's just me.

Honestly, if you're in the position to consider Italy, then I don't see how there's a debate between Italy and Jamaica. I mean, if you have to have a beach, then remember that those do exist in Italy, as well.
