Use this thread to post horror movies you're watching this month and trade recommendations. Here's a general format to follow if you'd like to turn this into a challenge for yourself: The October Horror Movie Challenge RULES:1. Must watch 31 horror movies in October, cuts off at sunrise on November 1. 2. You define what a horror movie is. Silence of the Lambs unsettles me. I count it. 3. A "movie" must be 65 uninterrupted minutes or longer. Long-form, but self-contained, television shows can count. (Example: an episode of Masters of Horror can count. A season of American Horror Story cannot.) 4. At least half of the films that you watch must be first-time-views. Feel free to claim a post for your running list, and contribute to discussion / etc. as we go on. I don't think there's a need for two threads (lists / discussion). And if you have your own challenge ideas / rules, feel free to post those too! Copied from the movies thread: Netflix
As Above So Below The Conjuring Scream 4 Cabin Fever The Babadook Gerald's Game It Follows Hellraiser Hellraiser II: Hellbound Children of the Corn The Invitation Cube Hulu
The Dead Zone Carrie The Host The Others Paranormal Activity VHS HBO
It The Omen ('76) Damien: Omen II The Descent Drag Me to Hell House of 1000 Corpses Jennifer's Body Silence of the Lambs Amazon Prime
Afflicted Blair Witch Project Carrie Green Room House on Haunted Hill ('68) Night of the Living Dead ('59) Nosferatu Paranormal Activity Shudder
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ('73) Re-Animator The Howling Irreversible Demons Cube Evil Dead Dark Water Creepshow II Wicker Man Black Sunday I Saw the Devil Netflix = Red Hulu = Green Shudder = Orange Amazon = Black HBO = BlueHere's a fun Twitter account to follow that dedicates itself to one horror movie per day this month

I'm going to post my tentative calendar soon.
Worth noting that I typically bite off some REALLY bad Netflix horror every year just to toss back some popcorn. My list of 31 are never all "great movies" and thats ok!

I will do this after I do my personal calendar but it seems silly to let one person pick 31 movies out of hundreds and then subscribe to all of their choices

Haven't plotted out my month yet, but as mentioned in the other thread I'm kicking off with Devil's Backbone. The same theater has Cabinet of Dr. Caligiri, Nosferatu, and three Argento movies on the schedule so I'll likely hit at least one of those. EDIT: - Devil's Backbone
- Hellraiser
- Hellbound: Hellraiser 2
- Carnival of Souls
- Scream
- Society
- Sisters
- The Descent
- The Birds
- The Omen
- The Invitation
- Satan's Slaves
- Eyes Without a Face
- The Howling
- Day of the Dead
- The Wailing
- Ganja & Hess
- Night of the Living Dead (rewatch)
- Audition
- Trouble Every Day
- The Dead Zone
- The Fog
- Castle Freak
- Black Christmas
- Nosferatu
- Nosferatu the Vampyre
- Demons
- Wolf Creek
- Gerald's Game
- Pulse
- Sleepaway Camp

The Wailing and Train to Busan are both still on Netflix I believe. I recommend both although Busan is more action-y than straight-up scary.

There is a 0% chance that I watch 31 movies over the next month, much less 31 horror movies. I do appreciate the list of films, though, as odds are I'll watch 2-3. Probably start with The Babadook this weekend.

The original post has been updated with a calendar you can follow if you wish to only use streaming services. I know not everyone has all of these, but the films are also popular enough that you should be able to "obtain" them should you wish to stick to this.
If you get a 2-week trial of Shudder starting on the 17th, it will take you through Halloween.

Some really interesting movies that will probably be fun for your horror challenge that not everyone has seen/have only recently been restored.
AMAZON PRIME:
Island of Death (featuring a fun and dumb soundtrack) Forbidden Zone (Danny Elfman plays the devil and sings Minnie the Moocher) Contamination Coherence
SHUDDER:
The Beyond A Tale of Two Sisters
Films that I don't know how you can find only that you should:
Phantom of the Paradise (Early DePalma, completely amazing and hilarious. ALSO for those of you who aren't into horror films/have a SO who isn't into horror films, this is ideal. Captures the spirit of the season but it isn't scary and it's also an amazing musical)
Blood for Dracula Flesh for Frankenstein
(These are the two Andy Warhol X rated horror films. They're dumb and hilarious and completely over the top)

I started watching this last night. It's over 3 hours so I may watch it in parts. There were a few scenes I saw as a kid that creeped me out. I got this through DVD on Netflix.
