Oh hey as my life continues to unravel i realized i forgot to post this weeks margaritaville! Only to find out that this weeks album is out of print! Good thing we are a week behind! I'll be surprised if I survive to the end of this discography but here we go skipping one ahead to: Havana Daydreamin' NGREDIENTS (4) 1 ounce light rum 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice 2 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice Twist of lemon peel Shake the rum, lemon juice, and pineapple juice with ice; then strain over ice into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon peel.

I think we’re starting to get a dip in song quality here. Liked Caroline Street & Captain & the Kid, but I’m having a difficult time recalling anything on the other songs after a few listens.

“Come Monday” just came on the radio at Windy City Gyros, this is definitely my favorite song of his thus far.

Living and Dying in 3/4 Time is just okay, or maybe I'm just not in the mood. Pencil-Thin Mustache and Come Monday start things off well enough, but the rest is completely lacking. The Wino and I Know is one bright spot for me. I was really looking forward to God's Own Drunk just off the title alone, but it was a little annoying.

Most of JBs music is great for drinking, but A-1-A is for when you're already shit-drunk and I dig it tremendously. I knew more of these than I thought I would - Makin' Music for Money at least sounds familiar, as does Life is a Tire Swing. A Pirate Looks at Forty used to bore me, but I used to be stupid.

Thanks to this thread, I now have a greater appreciation for when Mad Men used Okie from Muskogee, and how Captain America is definitely not one.

when Mad Men used Okie from Muskogee the 1st time I saw Merle and the Strangers live was at the 1st farm aid in Champaign, when he played right after Neil Young and right before Bon Jovi; the 2nd time was a yr later at the fox theater in StL, where he brought out tammy wynette as a special guest in his set, and his opening act was the judds.

Driving down to the Keys and realizing I needed to catch up on my JB real bad. Approaching the first Key as "Livin and Dyin in 3/4 Time" was playing was an unparallelled experience.
Pencil thin Mustache- fuckin rules
Come Monday- one of my favorites of “the hits”, especially pleasant in the context of the album. Glen Campbell vibes. The walk down and then step up on the last line of the chorus is so sonically pleasing to me
Ringling, Ringling- some good slide in this one
Brahma Fear- harmonica and all babbyyyy we’re country now
Brand New Country Star- Speaking of country
Livingston’s Gone to Texas- smooth as hell but a little same-y
The Wino and I Know- I love JB songs about drinkin
West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown- oh this is an immediate favorite
Saxophones- maybe a bit of a throwaway track here
Ballad of Spider John- scariest JB song turned saddest JB song
God’s Own Drunk- sloppy and honestly terrible
