That one caught me completely off guard. They had a huge arena tour about to start too.
I haven't listened in forever but they were definitely an important band to younger LoT. I probably still have a lot of their albums tucked away in the closet back at my parents house. Definitely at least have that Jay-Z collab EP

Wow, that's sad. We like to joke about their music now but the band played a really important role in my childhood. I haven't listened to them in a decade but I remember my first post on the old board being one in which I created a new thread to ask for Linkin Park (among a few other bands). Got laughed out of town for it of course (you know how the board was at the time) and I definitely never listened to them again after my tastes changed here but hey, it brought me to this place. Also, that Jay Z collab was what introduced me to him.

campbell in the trapper keeper three times: vp fair in downtown StL; champaign il for first farm aid in 1985, where he played his own set, and later played w/ the highwaymen for their second go round because kristofferson had to leave early; new orleans artists against homelessness show at university of new orleans in fall 1990, where he played a couple of songs and then had allen toussaint join him on southern nights. he was fantastic in front of a live audience.

Definitely an immaculate performer. My mom took me to see him at Old Town School like ten years ago and I still remember it as a great show.
