I mean, I was talking about filling growlers. I used to enjoy doing that and now most breweries don't offer that as an option. I know there are liquor stores in Chicago that fill growlers, and we don't have that here. That's what I figured you meant since the topic was on growlers in the first place.

I’m confused, the members of The Growlers work at a liquor store now?

i just mean i dunno what the appeal of having a restaurant fill a growler is if it's just something you can pick up at a liquor store. i know draft beer sometimes is better than canned/bottled, i just didn't think it was a big deal.

I wouldn't get a growler filled at an Applebees, but there's plenty of restaurants that have incredible taplists. That'd include beer not normally available at liquor stores.

and also some brewery taprooms will have unique brews made in really small batches that don't get distributed other than right there. so the appeal of growlers / crowlers is real in those circumstances.

Growlers are only worth it if you are going to drink it within 72 hours. The bigger appeal is that it's eco-friendly.

I assure you no growler in the history of mankind has lasted more than 48 hours without being consumed.

Wife's uncle came to visit the baby and brought me 300 lbs of alcohol. Lots of east coast stuff and several local spirits.
Drinking a War Llama by Mispillion River brewing which is a labeled as Sports Berliner. Made with sports drink mix. Awesome stuff.

I guess a few spots received some allotments of Double Two Hearted, but I haven't been able to find any at local stores. Several spots have it on draft so I guess that's how I'm going to try it.
Also, Oktoberfest season is my favorite season - already tried versions from Dry Dock, Sierra Nevada and Bells. Sierra Nevada gets a slight edge so far.

Will I be able to get Double Two Hearted pretty easily in Michigan?
Also FoBAB is on sale right now. Does anyone still go to that?

The entire PorchDrinking staff goes to that if you want to meet some Colorado beer geeks. I was actually invited last year, so I guess I'm still considered staff?

This is supposed to be the best fest out there for those who want to travel to Vail in January and deal with all of that ski-craziness: bigbeersfestival.com/

I remember when it was a tough ticket and it doesn't seem like that's the case at all anymore. All three sessions still available.
