I'm going to an Oktoberfest event at a bar set up in an 1880s era jailhouse on Saturday.

That is cool. Oktoberfest in there might be kind of weird, but still.

It's not like a full-fledged Oktoberfest event, they're just hosting a couple breweries from across the state. There's only 10 taps.

We'll be in Austin, otherwise we would've considered going back. Haven't been in three years or so.

A friend has been asking me to get her into beer recently so I brought her some Pliny back in May. I told her it was best fresh and she should try it in the next week or so. She *just* texted me that she tried it and really liked it.
Every little thing just seems to annoy me today.

Oh also I can now officially vouch for Vinyl Tap! Really interesting draft list and everything I tried was tasty. Lots of local stuff I'd never even heard of. Recommend the Bearded Iris Homestyle, a fruity IPA brewed with oats.

5i gets it. Also she and her husband are the type of people who have a beer or cocktail almost every day before/with dinner so it's not like she needed to save it for a special occasion or didn't have someone to split it with or whatever.

Toppling Goliath is doing a tap takeover at a brewery near me next week. It's right before the King Gizz show, so I might hit that before going to the venue.
Happy GABF week!

Anyone here had any beers from Side Project in St. Louis? I bought a $50 bottle of Double Barrel Derivation to split with my friend who lives in STL, and I have to admit despite the price tag that is amazing beer...probably better than BCBS.
edit: Apparently you can only drink it in the taproom and the black market prices for it are over $800...

This craft craze has gotten way too stupid.

A lot of folks are crazy for Side Project beer even more than the ones lining up for BCBS on Black Friday.

I got a sixer of Alaskan Husky IPA. I figured if they went through all the trouble of brewing beer in fucking Alaska and shipping it all the way here, the least I could do is spend $10 on it.
It's fine.
