Renowned Brooklyn brewery Other Half is doing a bunch of tap takeovers and a can sale in/around Chicago this week (Mylar Bags is one of my favorites if you have a chance to pick it up):

The Denver City Council unanimously okayed the “common consumption” ordinance Tuesday night.
Here’s how it works: A string of businesses (at least two) with liquor licenses will apply for a permit that lets drinkers roam freely in defined areas known as “entertainment districts.”
For example, the businesses along that fancy alley at Dairy Block in LoDo could essentially create an open-air bar where people can get a to-go drink and walk in and out of establishments — shops but not other bars — within the district’s boundaries.

I'm basically a sour and stout guy. Opposite ends pretty much.
Its stout week at a local restaurant, and I'm trying out a few. From the Chicago area, Off Colors Dino Smores Stout is excellent. Right now enjoying Prairie Prairie Artisans Oh Fudge! Prairie is from Oklahoma and have done some of the finest sours around, so I was curious about their stout abilities. Not disappointed.

Not disappointed. oh prairie! now you're talking my language. they have so many stout variations you should try them all ;–) bomb, xmas bomb, bday bomb, double dunk (made w/oreos!), bible belt (collab w/evil twin)... and i had a mystery bomb last year at a beer fest where you had to ask for the "secret mug under the table". |

I'm branching out more. I usually do sours but the season calls for something warmer and heavier. Prairie is one of my favorites so I'll get to all of them eventually.
Evil Twin had a great imperial called Even More JCS. Vanilla and coffee. 12%. So yummy.

So yummy. prairie has a taproom in okc and one of the best things about it is they serve beers that are only available there, so you can get a wider variety than what are in stores. |
