I've been to Ghost Isle many times, along with Beer Church. Pretty much the breweries walking distance from downtown I've hit often which is why I'm branching out here.
I will check out Seedz for sure.
Journeyman is fine and is more of a thing that everyone coming recognizes so it's cool. The food is also pretty great so we'll start and have lunch there.

Doing a low key bachelor party in New Buffalo the first weekend in November. We rented a small bus/driver for a while that Saturday to take us brewery hopping. Can anyone give me any opinions on Transient, Tapestry, Zorn or Burn 'Em breweries out there? We're definitely going to go to Journeyman and Greenbush but I'm trying to pick the other stops. Transient is a solid spot. Taproom isn't huge, so can be a quicker stop if needed |

my first fobab since 2013 was a great time.
my base Saturday was: chilaquiles, chips and guac, Korean crushed pear juice, and two ibuprofen. Mr. Greek immediately after the fest. Definitely got less fucked up than I did in 2013 and had no issues the next day.
I didn't really take notes on any of the beers I had. Like most fobabs some were good, some were disgusting, all of them were 10% or more. I figured I may as well avoid anything in bottles and most local beers since the whole point is to try stuff you couldn't elsewhere. Did not get a chance to try the Lost Abby beer that won best in show.

La Lagartija. It's close and easy. Chilaquiles are good, not outstanding. Menu highlight is the shrimp taco imo

Man, second year in a row that I just totally missed that FoBAB was happening. Are they bad at marketing or have I just completely unplugged from the craft beer scene and not realized it? I'm not as huge on beer as I used to be but I still would check out FoBAB if I was free.

I think that their marketing is not great. I did not really see anything about it this year until it was almost happening. I follow a lot of Beer accounts, but apparently, not them (until this weekend).

They used to do a pretty good job of marketing the event - I used to hear about it in Colorado at least a few weeks in advance. It's really dropped off the last couple years though. Only heard about it happening because Cerebral won a couple awards.

In the boat with others, I barely heard it was happening until last week. I vaguely remember it being announced but nothing after that.
In related news beer hurts my tummy now so I probably wouldn't have gone anyway 😞

It was not easy to find in my neighborhood last year and I was relegated to getting a few crowlers of it from the local bottle shop. So when I visited the grocery store earlier today and they had four sixers on hand, I basically went through the same arc as Elaine Benes when she found a case of sponges. |
