A $30 four-pack works out to $0.625 per ounce which converts to $13.75 for a 22 oz bomber. Seems not completely out of whack for barrel-aged beer?
Edit: Top o' the page to ya!

For sure. The issue is more asking for that for what is essentially one item. I don’t want $30 worth of any of those beers.

Good point. I wouldn't either, but then again, barrel-aged is not really my thang.

$30 for a 4 pack seems much worse to me than paying that amount for a bottle. At least with a bottle I'm not going to have to stare at 3 other cans if I don't like it.

So that was a long line but moved pretty quickly. Got there around 6 and got almost everything my brother wanted. But then I think you had to go back outside and get in another line to get into the release party? I'm so over beer.

But for real I like beer but I wouldn’t wait outside in the cold for the opportunity to buy some that I can’t buy that often.

She’s absolutely right in that that’s what’s wrong with beer and why I get so much less excited about cool stuff coming out. It’s become a joyless mess.

I drink beer for the expense and the inconvenience.

I guess 200 people lined up hours before a local brewery opened for a new bottle release yesterday. I went by at 3pm and grabbed two bottles at the counter. Maybe people just like lines.

The weekly line at Other Half for their Saturday can releases is the stuff of local legend (sometimes wrapping all the way around the block) and it seems some (many?) people enjoy queuing up early for the camaraderie, the beer swaps and whatnot.
I have the same approach as Scoots - show up after the line dies down and grab a four pack of whatever's left. I guess I miss out on some of the most desired cans, but I always manage to have plenty of outstanding beer in stock. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between the "most desired" and the "slightly less desired" double/triple IPAs.

I don't really drink beer anymore so it's less exciting to me and I don't see it as much. It was fine, I just don't really seek it out and haven't in a while.

Yeah, I’ll still do this too occasionally. Part of it is that there are so many great beers that are comparable to the over/hyped stuff that you really don’t have to wait in ridiculous lines to get amazing beer. Unless you also want an egg mcmuffin.

I'm so over beer. so at the previous release, they let you purchase the cans and go right into the taproom at the attached door. But this was like the first release when you had to go out and come back in. But when I was in line, i heard there was a wait to get into the taproom, so my friends and I bailed.

Hey a lot of the Binny's around Chicago have restocked regular Pseudo Sue 4-pack boxes (brewed in Iowa and not Florida)

Michigan friends (and any other friends)- anyone know anything about Perrin brewing? I've walked into a bottle of their No Rules and I don't know much about it, wondering if anyone is familiar with them

Xam is the one to talk to about it, but the few things we had from them while we were in MI in the fall were really good. Don’t know about that one in particular.

Yeah prices are all over the place. I got it for $18 here in Denver. I've heard as high as $60. Goose Island/AB-InBev have more power than you'd think to prevent this type of price gouging - it's unfortunate they don't give a shit.

picked up 2 cases of hopslam (one for me and the roommates, one for the wedding this weekend back home)
tried one last night and it's so goddamn smooth compared to previous years. i can see people complaining about that and it not being as hoppy as usually but i thought it was delicious.
also got to try the VSOD from Revolution last night. tasty really boozy at first but actually got more enjoyable as it warmed up a little bit (or maybe i was just buzzed at that point and didn't care)
