So Day For Night had one of the most exciting line-ups of the year last year, and that excites me for this year since I'm sure it'll be quite different from any other line-up. So I think its worthy of a thread, because guessing for this fest should be more fun than most fests
Any early guesses?
I think LCD Soundsystem makes sense and I'd love that since I want to see them all the times. I know others may not be as big on that since they played everywhere. I honestly feel like Arcade Fire could be a pick after Win played this last year, but at the same time it doesn't seem like the best fit.
As far as gets on the level of Aphex Twin, my dream get is Portishead. I have this weird gut feeling it might happen too. I can't think of many more acts that'd be close to the Aphex Twin level get and I have a feeling they'll be really trying to pull something like that.
some other stuff I'd like that's probably a bit out of the box but probably (hopefully) possible- Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Trentemoller, Robyn

Portishead is also my dream for DfN this year.
it's hard to tell because how they pulled off Aphex, who was doing few to no shows last year and still isn't playing the States this year, we'll never know.
but if the pool of previous headliners is Kdot, New Order, Bjork, and Aphex, i think we're in good hands for something interesting.

My guesses are The National and Spoon as the two headliners. And tons of other good acts.

Based on articles ive read they seemed to really sell Aphex on it not being your average music festival, that it was really some special event. If they can sell him on it I really think they will be able to sell someone similarly rare on it too. And I think they are willing to put forth the money on someone that one of the other fests would see as a risk.

I've still got my eggs in the Jamiroquai basket for a one-off risky act that fits with the overall vibe of the fest. Their European tour ends November 29 so it works logistically too.
I'm definitely coming to this, though. Buying my flight next week when Southwest releases tickets for December, and I'll buy one of the $100 presale tickets then too. Those seem to end at the end of this month, FYI.
Wish they could give a hint as to the venue.

Why are they switching venues again ? it's a shtick. they do a different venue every year as part of an artistic endeavor and help restore interest to certain areas of the city (to my understanding.) which is pretty cool.

Dang... Hope they still keep it around the downtown area though, that was too nice being able to walk a few blocks to the hotel

I honestly don't even have a guess for the venue except for maybe where they had it the first year, which was Silver Street Studios I believe.
also didn't realize pre-sale tickets were still on. I'm buying those new actually, thought I had missed them. $100 is a steal for this fest

My guesses are The National and Spoon as the two headliners. And tons of other good acts. This seems really far off considering they didn't even book one 00s indie band like that the last two years. For my taste, this would be great. But I think they will stay mostly electronic with touches of rap and rock here and there.

Dang... Hope they still keep it around the downtown area though, that was too nice being able to walk a few blocks to the hotel I'm gonna go ahead and tell you that there are plenty of neighborhoods and areas of Houston better to hang out in than downtown. I agree with LoT though that Silver Street Studios seems like the odds-on favorite unless they're really thinking outside the box again.

I think you're right about the headliners, that was just a shot in the dark, since The National will be in Chicago the week before. And I just feel like Spoon would be a good fit, and they'd pretty much have to be a headliner at fest this size. But you're right, they both don't really line up with past headliners.
I believe it about the neighborhoods, that was just extremely convenient for me last year. I've got my presale ticket already too, I'm just hoping for something comparable to last year.

Kinda sucks that there aren't really any hotels in walking distance of that studio venue.

I want all the bands that were supposed to be at the aborted Safe as Milk Fest I was supposed to go to play this. Specifically, This is Not This Heat, Omar Souleyman, Brainbombs, and Demdike Stare.

Yeah, I happened to check when I booked my flight last year and it was in late October. It's going to be a long few months of waiting. Definitely wanted to get in on it before they close the blind presales, though.

Can't guarantee anything right now because my lease is up before this and I dunno if we are going to stay in the same place, but I can likely host 2-3 people again for this if anyone wants to save the hotel money.

They were $150 plus fees after the lineup came out last year. The blind presale was $135 last year, not sure if that will change things. There may be another blind presale closer to the end of the year.

Godspeed just put up a bunch of Euro tour dates for the fall that end in November. I could see them being a good fit for this fest
