That question is less interesting than which caused more good music to exist.

I don't think more than half of my IRL friends would be able to answer if you held a gun to their head and asked them what "Is This It" is. Or even who made the album if you told them it was an album.

I think I'm refusing to vote in this poll on principle.

While Is This It? is a pretty good album, it doesn't even come close to Nevermind.

Huh. I guess young-ins might think The Strokes had more of an outsized influence, but otherwise this is a weird poll.

I mean, I feel like based off its effect on both the end of the 80's indie scene, the creation of the 90's alt rock era, as well as its continued relevance among younger generations (plus important but more peripheral things like basically being the reason Subpop has existed for 25+ years) ... Nevermind is the objectively correct answer.
People - myself included - may like Is This It more, but Nevermind is on the shortlist for most important/influential albums in music history. Is This It is certainly important, but not nearly on the same level.

Neader makes a good point. Switching my vote to the Strokes.
Bands that Nirvana influenced today mostly suck.
Bands that the Strokes influenced today only sorta suck.

It is true that I had not considered Nirvana's role in the nascence of butt rock, and that is as close to an unforgivable offense as there is in my book.

Shouts Out to The Voidz for also sucking. Played for 25 minutes at their sold out empty bottle show. 20 of which were just Julian moaning and yelling into the mic about how bad the sound system was while his band played on and tried to ignore him in embarrassment

I also find it funny that they stopped doing heroin and realized they all hate each other and have nothing in common

i swear most of the Strokes' supposed legacy comes not from their music or shows but strictly from white dudes in Brooklyn telling everyone that the Strokes have a legacy

Every rock band that people pretend to like still sound like the strokes and its been 17 years.
People stopped sounded like Nirvanna in critically respected circles by like 1997
