That list is compromised of practically no artists past '93 or so, imo. We've already cycled through everything "rock" a few times now. I feel like it's just being arranged differently in general.

Which politician was more influential, Abraham Lincoln or Bernie Sanders?

One time I made a bad poll a long long time ago and gregnasty posted one right after that said "do you prefer eating your food, or throwing it all away in the garbage?"

Kanye influenced rock and pop as a whole. His influence definitely isn’t just on hip hop. You have The Stroke’s Julian Casablancas doing Kanye vocoder shit on his new Voidz album Um, you realize that Julian Casablancas has worked with Daft Punk, right? Or did Julian Casablancas only know about Daft Punk because of Kanye? Is that how that's supposed to work? And then there's that whole long list of other people who have been using vocoder for, like, forever...

Ignore my hot takes this morning. Most of you guys were in your teens '00-10 or even beyond. Our perspectives are going to vary wildly at times and that's okay. Just having some fun.
I also don't hate Kanye but like to pick on him. That Coachella set where it was just him on stage really blew my mind. Top tier, heavily influential entertainer. No doubt.

Very reminiscent of what Kanye does on MBDTF and Yeezus. You do realize the Strokes play guitars right? Or did they only know about guitars because of Nirvana’s Nevermind? Is that how it’s duppsoed to work? And then there's that whole long list of other people who have been using guitar for, like, forever.. Man it’s almost like vocoder is an instrument which is why I said “Kanye west shit” implying something very specific that he does with it.

I had something typed up to respond to this, but then I remembered that I am arguing with someone who went to an mbv show and came away complaining that they could barely discern the vocals.

I’ve seen them multiple times before and the vocals were fine. The mix was awful that night.

I think the most influential album for me is Deep Purple's Machinehead [wonder if Wretched agrees]. Deep Purple's Machinehead is better than any album mentioned in this thread thus far, completely agree.
