Can't wait for Kenny to spin how the White Sox had the better offer.

Alright I take it back, it sounds like they were just using the White Sox as leverage to get a better offer from Philly.

I don't think he got a better offer based on the Sox offer, he just took less money because of his wife. I mean it's not as bad of a miss as long as they commit the money elsewhere.

But where? Assuming the White Sox are not realistically in on Strasburg or Cole the dropoff here is pretty big. I guess we could make a run at MadBum, Keuchel etc. I'm not sure how well they would do pitching at the Cell.

I would have preferred Wheeler to any of those guys, and Keuchel and Bumgarner's skill sets are both not ideal for the Cell. They need to sign someone though, and that's who's left.

Also there is just no excuse for this team not to be all in on Cole or Strasburg. The whole point of this rebuild was a reset so they'd have the money to commit to these types of free agents. Maybe they're just slow playing their hand or something, but it looks really bad to not make an effort to sign either guy.

steve cohen is who damian lewis's character on Billions is based on.
but if he spends money on players, i don't think many mets fans will care.

Alright I take it back, it sounds like they were just using the White Sox as leverage to get a better offer from Philly. It's clear they are very sensitive from last year because they made sure to leak their Wheeler offer to every baseball writer in America. I don't blame them, this fan base will always assume the worst.

Maybe give the fan base a reason to not assume the worst, then.

Agreed. Grandal was a step in the right direction, but not nearly enough. It's still early, let's see how the rest of the off-season goes.

After missing out on Wheeler the White Sox are apparently pivoting to Keuchel.

I'd be super skeptical of any player who put up good numbers in Houston.

Pineda back to the Twinkies for 2/20. Not sure if that takes them out of the running for Bumgarner or any other starter they had been pursuing.

I am now realizing there is a 100% chance the Sox sign Howie Kendrick Back to the Nats, 1 year $6.25m.

My bet is Cesar Hernandez, who they should honestly sign regardless of their plans with Madrigal for depth.

Ozuna is signing with the Sox on Monday. Great upgrade. Especially with his past success with Menechino.

Gomez was right about the amount of the Sox offer to Machado. What was he wrong about?
