in june 2022, i was in worcester, massachusetts to see a baseball game with my dad. before the game, i stopped at a record shop and picked up Sound & Fury. i put the record in the pocket behind the passenger seat of my dad's car and forgot to take it home with me. but no worries, my dad and stepmom were planning to visit me a few weeks later and would bring the record then. in that span, my dad busted his ankle and cancelled their trip. in november, i was at my parents' house and asked where the record was. "What record?" i looked around but didn't find it. a few months ago when my parents were planning this year's trip to see me, i asked if they could bring the record. my dad claimed they'd left it out for me in november and asked why i hadn't taken it then. this past weekend, they visited me and brought the record. this has to be the longest i've ever gone between purchasing a record and actually listening to it.

It looks like the edge of the label is still in the deadwax, but i'd be hesitant to play it unless you were on the ball and stopped it manually before the last track on that side ends. I've never tried removing a label, but it doesn't seem like they'd come off easily.

I've never tried removing a label, but it doesn't seem like they'd come off easily. the label extends about halfway into the last song. i spent last night looking for ways to remove a label, and there are several ways to do so if the label's centered on the deadwax. but everything i read indicated any method for this situation would still leave label residue in the grooves. i think i'll play it and just try to be on the ball about skipping that last track on side A. of course this happens on a record that i can't return.

Yeah, that sucks, but its probably better than letting the needle jump onto the label, which aside from sounding terrible probably isn't good for the needle.

Just posting this since I don't think I've seen this before- Discogs is running an up to 50% off sale with select sellers. I'm kind of intrigued by this and I don't think I can explain why

i didn't know much about Call Me except the singles. i saw it at dusty groove recently and gave it a shot. whew, what a record. i could've spent $1,000 at signal on diversey when i went two weeks ago. they had some excellent rarities on the wall, but i walked away only with White Light because it's been on my white whale list for years and i'm not sure i'd ever seen an original pressing before. reissue of A Thing Called Divine Fits on yellow vinyl sounds really good. i was sure i owned this record, but it wasn't in my spreadsheet.

i picked up these two at discolecção in lisbon a couple weeks ago. I'm Your Man is a portuguese print that has a very rich sound. and Sweetheart of the Rodeo is a dutch print that sounds fine. i'd been looking for the latter for a while and was pretty amped about finding it there.

Does this mean editions that were manufactured in the respective countries? Can these have different tracklists? often, yes, the record and/or the sleeve were manufactured in the country. that byrds album says "Made in England" on the record label, but the sleeve was printed in the netherlands. maybe columbia records didn't have a pressing plant in the netherlands in the 60s? on the leonard cohen album, all of the record company/printing/manufacturing info is in portuguese on both the label and sleeve. but everything else, like credits and lyrics, is in english. sometimes there are different tracklists, but it's almost always the same. except i've found a lot of japanese versions have bonus tracks. although, my dutch copy of the walker brothers' debut album has a different title, artwork, and tracklist than the two normal versions of that album that you'd find in almost every other country.

Went up to Milwaukee to see v funny comedian Dusty Slay Saturday. Poked around my favorite record store in MKE and found a club promo copy worth more than your standard original press. Sounds great save for a scratch in the middle of the 2nd verse of "Welcome to the Jungle" but at least it isn't in "Paradise City" or "Sweet Child o Mine". What a great album. #3 of the 80s by our metrics. I bought a bunch of other stuff too that I may or may not post about

Acme is the store. I was also at Lilliput later in the day. Haven't been to Bullseye in a while but I remember buying a few things last time I was there

Anyone else doing RSD today? Just want that Blur album. I’m about 20th in line at my local. They are very small and it’s their first RSD so I doubt they received more than a few copies.

Twist and Shout has about 200 people waiting outside as of 7am this morning so there's zero chance I'll be participating this year.
