Yeah I would never go there today. The first people on line were there at like 3p yesterday. I can't think of any record worth that. Was there some big coveted release that I missed? The exclusives list looked pretty mid to me this year.

A few buzzy releases this year had people waiting overnight in line. Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan had super limited releases, plus a few others I guess. The store I usually go to had lines taking over 4 hours which seems like a disaster.

i picked up a few records when i was in finland recently. that medicine boy album is one i never thought i'd see in the wild. it was only ever released in south africa. so, of course, i found it in a used bin in tampere.

The Jesus Lizard - Goat
New, and cheaper than what it would've been on Touch and Go's website.

i looked up record shops in dallas before a trip there earlier this week. one shop in grand prairie came up on a list. i searched their site and found a handful of things from my want list, but all at absurd prices. a ton of stuff that i could probably find for $30 was showing up as $199.98. reviews were split between "we love this shop" and "the prices here are mental." so i had to take a look. it's a warehouse full of vinyl and cd inventory. it also doubles as a u-haul rental location.
the new arrivals bin had some decent stuff. but almost everything was priced at $25 or $35. notes on sleeves stated "out of print! rare!" for a copy of albums like billy joel's 52nd Street that there are literally millions of floating around. it would have taken a whole day to look through everything they have on the floor. i just popped into sections for my want list items. and i did find a bunch of things from that list, but i quickly realized the inventory's incredible because i can't fathom them moving a lot of it due to pricing. and sleeves are taped, so you can't even look at a record's condition. in the end, i picked up a sealed UK copy of wild beasts' Smother album for $20 that seemed like a steal compared to everything else.

The Best of Procol Harum
Newish record store in town, didn't have much in my wheelhouse but I had a $5 off coupon. This was only 6 bucks and there are at least 3 songs on there I enjoy very much.

Trying to think of the most embarrassing records still on my shelf. A simple plan box set would probably be up there

Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
I thought all/most of the classic PE albums got remastered? This wasn't as loud as I expected it to be, I had to turn it up.

i sold a bunch of 12"s to signal a few weeks ago, had a pile of credit, and couldn't resist a splurge. (In Utero's the original europe release; Caetano Veloso is a notable reissue.)

What do you do with records that are irreparably warped or broken? I got a few of my Dad's LP's and some of them are unplayable due to damage. Do you just throw away unplayable stuff unless it has sentimental value to you?

Do you just throw away unplayable stuff unless it has sentimental value to you? If these records are irreplaceable and possibly have value, there is something called a Vinyl Flat that you can get to flatten warped records www.vinylflat.com

One of them is this, but it doesn't appear to be super valuable (per Discogs). Edit: not my copy

two recent big $ purchases. Rings Around the World was at princeton record exchange and American Thighs was at tone deaf. both sound great, with a few expected blips considering their age/condition. Rings Around the World has a very interesting feature - side C runs in reverse. the needle's placed in the center and runs outward. i've never seen that before.
