The zombie apocalypse will eventually be linked to Diet Coke consumption.

If ingesting a brown liquid of unknown origins is the path you choose to get there, more power to you.

I'd waste away if it wasn't for beer, so absolutely nothing is wrong with it.

I'm not sure I'd really want to put up with any of this if it weren't for beer and coffee.

I actually started drinking coffee in an attempt to wean myself off of Diet Coke, and it has mostly worked. I say 'mostly' because I still have a DC occasionally - and even then, I can only drink about half a can.
Years ago, I was drinking close to a six-pack a day.

I'm really fortunate in that I never really enjoyed pop. Too much carbonation for my tastes.

I was doing so good until this hurricane happened. The only place open around town for a while during all that was a pizza place. And I was forced to stay inside for most of it so no exercise. And I drank copious amounts of beer the whole time
Gotta get back on it. Though I'm making an exception for today since we plan to try to make up for not getting to go to New Orleans this weekend

I generally don't listen to music while working out unless it's a very long run, but KEXP has a workout podcast I've used in the past. Good mix of rap and motivational songs.

looks like a similarly tiny gym on north ave might be as cheap as the one ive been using on division for 3 years and is less obnoxiously crowded (even at late hours on weeknights) and might be cleaned once every blue moon so i might finally make that switch once this membership ends next month.

After a bit of a rough patch (thanks to a hurricane and a break-up) where I ate too much, drank too much, and didn't go to the gym enough (I still did some though, which is better than a few months ago), im back on it. I've been running pretty regularly over the last week or two and walking a lot on the days where I didn't run, and I'm noticing definite improvement. Setting a goal to be able to run a decent 5k by the end of the year. Haven't put myself on a hard diet but I'm making smaller healthier choices and I think it's adding up
Somehow didn't gain over that rough patch, in fact somehow lost a pound or two, so that helps a lot. Didn't put myself behind much. Thankful for that

It has been a while since I posted the offer here, but since it is race week, if you (or your spouse/significant other) are running the Chicago Marathon this weekend and are interested in the possibility of an improved race day experience, contact me by DM by Thursday.

I'm not too far off of having lost 40 pounds (at 37 right now but I'm just feeling particularly proud of it this morning).

I wore a slim fit suit for the first time this weekend without feeling uncomfortable or thinking I looked goofy so that was awesome.

V pleased with how I did in a 5k yesterday after not having run in months maybe years. I only walked a few times. My IT bands hate me today though.

Did my first marathon yesterday (Chicago Marathon). Really proud of myself that I finished, that was probably the hardest thing I've ever done physically. Miles 18-24 were probably the hardest miles I've ever run in my life.
Also, extremely well run event. Even though I've never done a full, I've done a lot of halves, so can compare to that experience, and from packet pickup to security and organization on the day to the post-race activities, this was one of the best-organized runs I've ever participated in.

Congrats Jimmy...if you choose to do it again next year, you need to stay in touch. On behalf of my teams at the expo and in Grant Park on race day, I'll take some of the credit for the organization, and having said that I can make your race day even better/more comfortable.

Thanks c1916! Definitely thinking about going into the lottery again for next year...though my legs today are asking why I would want to do such a thing. Only other thing giving me pause on that as well is that there are 2-3 half marathons around this time of year that I really love running, and can't do them if I run the marathon. But I'll definitely shoot you a message if I run Chicago again next year.
