I thought it was more a teenager thinking he was cool for quoting rap lyrics rather than him being an overt racist. I don't think it's all that surprising to forget that kind of stuff.

I was commenting without knowing the actual contents of the tweets. They should maybe have specified that on the draft coverage, because now everyone thinks he's an actual racist. Fine line, I know. |

The "I'm bored" post....
I wanted to see if it was just me when thinking the Bears seem to avoid Hawkeye players like a plague. So I got to doing some research.
Teams who have drafted a player from Iowa since 2010: 20
Teams who have prior to 2010 but from at least 2000-2009: 10
Teams prior to 2000? 2
Jacksonville barely making the cut in 1999
and.....
The Chicago Bears who haven't since 1990
So if they don't again this year, it'll mark the 28th year since they last did. Yikes. Also, not good draft company to be in seeing as they've been abysmal at drafting outside of the recent hits on defense.

A friend of mine was pushing for me to go to NY with him for the Giants-Bears game. A few years ago I'd probably be stupid and drop $150 on a ticket, but I have no desire to attend an NFL game these days. It's just such a disgusting league. I still love the Bears, but god this league is such a dumpster fire.

Welp, this might actually cause me to boycott next season:
NFL owners have unanimously approved a new national anthem policy that requires players to stand if they are on the field during the performance but gives them the option to remain in the locker room if they prefer, it was announced Wednesday.
The policy subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not show respect for the anthem. That includes any attempt to sit or kneel, as dozens of players have done during the past two seasons. Those teams will also have the option to fine any team personnel, including players, for the infraction.
"This season, all league and team personnel shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room until after the Anthem has been performed.

It's just so goofy. Picture getting this type of email at work where the new company policy is that you need to stand for the national anthem every day.
