Ha. I have a buddy trying to get me to go to that as well. No chance, it's gonna be a shit show. My friend has a week off waiting for the new job to start and is going to get down there. I am not looking forward to his reports This has changed from the draft party downtown to a bar in the south loop and I can't imagine that being much better but here we go anyway!

Bears are approaching Lions levels of sloppiness with all of these penalties.

I get that putting both hands on a guy will get a penalty called, but the DB literally didn't move.

Yeah I said that. Unless you're saying he didn't move because he had two hands on him. Either way a dumb post.

Maybe the Packers have a really good D too, but man did that offense look bad. Especially Mitch.
Could have had Mahomes...sigh.

I get that putting both hands on a guy will get a penalty called, but the DB literally didn't move. that was my biggest peeve about that call. especially with the new replay. friends slightly talked me down because it was two hands, fully extended. but goddamn if you are gonna allow replay for that kind of call, gotta change the rule

That game was so hard to watch. The offense was just awful. The penalties in that last quarter were pretty inexcusable. Trubisky looked terrible aside from 2 drives all game. On the plus side the defense looked good and hopefully that's a sign that Pagano is picking up where Fangio left off. But honestly that's about the only positive I can take out of the game, and it's not making me feel all that much better.

Also was anyone else bugged by the NBC graphic in the bottom right of the screen that swiped yellow at the end of every play, in the box that gives the down count and would normally turn yellow only when there is a flag? Made me think there was a penalty after ever play...was annoying as hell.

With 3 1st round caliber QBs on the board there was no reason to trade up. Not to mention it was known that the 49ers didn't plan on drafting a QB. Pace got fleeced on that deal. He reached for what now looks like the worst QB of the bunch (I understand hindsight is 20/20). GMs lose their jobs over making mistakes like that.

He must have known he was gambling with his career on such a move. The trade up was ridiculous and everyone knew it at the time, it was pretty universally panned, so I agree that this isn't revisionist history. But if Trubisky turned out to be a star, Pace would be the hottest GM in the game. While I think Pace messed up big time, I'm going to give Trubisky one more year. It takes time for young QBs to figure it out, and he's shown flashes of talent. But if he doesn't perform consistently this year then I will have run out of patience.

I think it was an awful trade since they didn’t need to trade up to draft him, but didn’t he improve significantly last year ? He made the Pro Bowl.

He did improve significantly, but honestly not to the point of the trade that Pace threw up. If you're gonna go all in on a QB like that, in a move that makes such little sense to 99% of football fans/analysts, he'd better be damn good. And I'm not convinced yet. But definitely not throwing him under the bus either. I'm holding out judgement for now ... though last night didn't help his cause in my mind.

Right I'm not giving up on Mitch, just saying that trading up for him looked bad at the time, and only looks worse in hindsight.
