I'm trying to think of a single good anime-to-live adaptation. I mean, I know Wretched personally vouched for the GitS remake, which is a bit of a ding to his credibility. I have higher than I should hopes for the new Death Note movie coming out I have actually not seen Death Note but I really think it's gonna be bad. Sorry dude.

Willem Dafoe as Ryuuk is beyond perfect casting but besides that nothing gives me hope.
I too ENJOYED GitS. Aesthetically it is basically immaculate even if the script goes all Hollywood.
The first Rurouni Kenshin movie is dope. That trilogy as a whole has good fight choreography. However, the second and third try to cram too much in. There are a lot of characters in RK and the movies try to shove every single one in, and their roles are sheer nonsense when a major arc is cut down to 4+ hours.
Takashi Miike's Ace Attorney movie is worth watching. Dude cranks out like four movies a year, so they can't all be masterpieces.

that first death note film attempt was abhorrently bad but also clearly had a small budget.
something with more money and time might be decent (Dafoe as the shinigami is a great start)

people seemed to like speed racer, right? sadly, i still haven't seen it, but that hyper insane visual style seems to be a good route when adapting animation to live action.

the thing that gives me hope on death note is again, adam wingard. I never saw blair witch because I don't really do found footage horror movies but you're next and the guest are so good. seriously if you haven't seen the guest do that. I'm very on bored with him doing a death note movie
I never saw that ace attorney movie and I really wanted to. kind of forgot about it though, I might watch that today

It's Digibro's favorite movie (anime YouTube guy, don't look him up). I should give it a look although I have no history with Speed Racer so I'm not sure how much I'd dig it. I've also heard Hideaki Anno's Cutie Honey live-action film was fun. There have definitely been some that have done it well in Japan, I just think it's a pointless exercise on the whole. Anime works on the basis of animation.

On a purely visual level, yeah, I loved it. Definitely some pages that could be taken out of that book. Do not mistake this as a recommendation on the whole, however. Cowboy Bebop, though...it's a cop out, but I just have no faith in anyone capturing the proper feel of it. It's a show driven by music, and unless they got Yoko Kanno...

I legit just listen to the soundtrack on a monthly basis. Yoko Kanno is among the best composers ever.

Also, live-action never seems to quite split the difference properly between making the characters look like the inspiration, and what works well in real life.

From the screenwriter of Thor: The Dark World doesn't really inspire confidence either.

I'll admit that I thought the trailer for the live-action FMA movie coming out looked cool but it probably won't be a good movie. They're fitting the ENTIRE STORY into one film... how the fuck even.

I did not know Jarvis Cocker and Feist wrote a song together. Might need to seek that out...

The whole Feist album is worth a listen. It's one of my favorites so far this year.

Finally watched (or more accurately fast forwarded through the last few episodes of The Amazing Race. They visited the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens where i attended Rock in Athens Festival in 1985 and in the final episode they ended up in Chicago and went to Buckingham Fountain,as well as other familiar Chicago sites. Weird not coming there this year for Lolla....

Bloodline Season Three was a complete piece of garbage.
Loved The Leftovers finale. It was perfect.

Sad to report: Big thumbs down on House of Cards season five.
Happy to report: Neve Campbell remains a very attractive woman.
